I’ve always been a bit of a town-hopper, exploring different corners of Arizona. But this time, I was drawn to the allure of Scottsdale.

1. Butterfly Wonderland

Butterfly Wonderland is an enchanting indoor facility that feels like entering a tropical paradise. The highlight was witnessing the life cycle of the butterflies, from caterpillars munching on leaves to beautiful butterflies emerging from their cocoons. 

The facility also has a hummingbird aviary, a touch pool with friendly fish, and an intriguing exhibit about butterflies and their conservation efforts. It’s a perfect getaway for anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience in nature.

Pro tip:
Wear light, loose-fitting clothing, and comfortable shoes while walking around the facility.

2. Camelback Mountain

3. Cave Creek

What I found truly fascinating was the abundance of wildlife in the park. I spotted desert tortoises, jackrabbits, and various bird species, and the possibility of seeing a magnificent bald eagle soaring overhead was a real treat.

Pro tip:
If you’re visiting during the summer months, be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen. For panoramic views of the surrounding area, hike to the top of Pinnacle Peak. 

4. Chaparral Park & Dog Park

One of my favorite things about this park is its tranquil atmosphere. I love taking my dog to the park, packing a picnic lunch, and enjoying a leisurely afternoon at Chaparral Park. It’s the perfect way to relax and appreciate the beauty of nature.

If you’re visiting during the peak of summer, bring plenty of water for yourself and your furry friend. The temperatures can get quite hot, so staying hydrated is important.

5. Children’s Museum of Phoenix

I highly recommend hiking to the bottom of the canyon, where you can experience the refreshing waters of the Colorado River and witness the canyon’s grandeur from a completely different perspective.
