ElysianFields is one of our go-to cake shops in Phoenix if we want a custom cake orcustom confection for an event. What we love about them is that they never limit ourcreativity.

Here, they can whip up cakes featuring your favorite safari animals or classic cartooncharacters like Super Mario. And just recently, we had them create a cake with our favoritealien design.

Because of the wealth of options, custom orders must be placed at least 48 hours prior tothe delivery date, but simpler rush orders can be accomodated. Their custom spots do fillup understandably quickly, so reserve your order as early as possible.

Aside from their custom cakes, you can also enjoy their daily list of pastries, chocolates,cookies, and more. Take note that they rotate their baked goods daily, so make sure tohead over to their website to see what’s baked fresh that day.

Elysian Fields also offers a high tea that is reviewed to be the best in Phoenix. The best partis getting to try all the little samplers, especially the petit fours and chocolate bonbons.Reservations for the tea fill out quickly, but you can schedule your spot with a deposit onthe easy reservation program on their website. And can even order a high tea to take home!

We were also pleasantly surprised that they have vegan and gluten-free cakes. It’s niceknowing we can still treat ourselves without stressing over diet restrictions.

The BEST High Tea 

“I went to Elysian Fields for Afternoon Tea with my mom today and we had such an amazing experience! The two women working were great and so attentive, we were promptly seated and served tea with an array of freshly made pastries, cookies, petit fours, and finger sandwiches. Everything was so delicious it was impossible to pick favorites, but we really liked the scones, croissants, macarons, smoked salmon sandwich, and, of course, the tea! They even played classical music while we ate and chatted. I can’t recommend Elysian Fields enough for their Afternoon Tea, my mom and I both agreed that this was even better than Afternoon Tea at The Phoenician.”

Variety and quality of confections 

“I had never been to this bakery before, but had been wanting to try it for quite some time, since I live nearby. I browsed their website and saw that they offer cannolis, one of my dad’s favorite desserts (as well as one of mine)! Since Father’s Day was coming up, I placed an order for a dozen mini cannolis to bring to our small Father’s Day celebration, and I couldn’t be happier I did! My dad said they are the best cannolis he has ever eaten, and even my mom, who is not normally a fan, loved them! It was also perfect that the following day was National Cannoli Day, and the cannolis kept nicely in the fridge for us to enjoy more the next day! 

I must also add that upon picking up my order, I was amazed at the gorgeous interior of the bakery, the equally gorgeous variety of treats sitting in the case, the friendly service and the fact that our cannolis were beautifully boxed! For almost twenty years, Urban Cookies has increased its list of loyal clients, most especially after winning Food Network’s Cupcake Wars in 2011. This cake shop is also home to various gourmet desserts such as cupcakes, doughnuts, and cookies.

The vibe here is casual yet upscale. But don’t worry, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, so you won’t get intimidated when you see their line-up of gourmet desserts.

Some of our favorite flavors are German chocolate and toasted coconut. The baked goods here aren’t overly sweet either, so for the old folks out there, you probably won’t skip desserts this time.

There’s also a takeout window, perfect for those who are in a rush and just need a quick pick-up spot.

You can also get their daily and seasonal offerings at your next event. However, you won’t be able to request special flavors or a custom design, as they maintain their integrity when it comes to their classic flavors and style.

Additionally, you should take note that their offerings rotate on a monthly basis. They normally announce the menu in the third week of the month, so you can plan accordingly.

If you’re looking for a cake shop that offers the classic buttercream and cream cheese icing, then that’s The Velvet Buttercream. This cake shop is renowned for its 3-layer and 5-layer cakes, which are ideal for special occasions, particularly weddings.

But don’t worry, they still have other freshly baked goods such as cupcakes, cookies, and even pies. They also keep whole cakes in-store, so you can drop by if you need one on the spot.

Meanwhile, if you need a customized cake for your next event, you can reach out to them too. Just keep in mind that their lead times vary based on their current workload, so we recommend giving them a heads up at least a month before your event.

They also rotate their flavors on a weekly basis, so if you didn’t see your favorite this week, then you can always try again.

And for the fur parents out there, you’ll love that they make dog cookies so your four-legged pals can get their treats too. 

Although there aren’t many seats inside the cake shop, you’ll love that there’s a park nearby where you can enjoy your baked desserts. And if you need to pair it with a cup of coffee, there are several coffee shops in the area too.

For fans of minimalist and rustic naked cakes, we’ve got one name in mind: A Bakeshop. This cake shop is big on weddings, so if vintage or classic is your theme, then you may consider having them on your special day.

Of course, they offer tasting sessions so you can try different popular cake flavors. In fact, they partnered up with known wedding venues such as The Phoenician and The Sanctuary, just to name a few.

We suggest checking their website for a list of their partner venues, as you don’t have to schedule a separate cake tasting session if you’re celebrating your big day there. 

On the other hand, if you can’t allot time for the in-house cake tasting, you can take advantage of their Take Home Cake Tasting Box service, so you can still try their selections wherever you are.

Honestly, we expected these light and fluffy rustic cakes to be on the drier side, but we were so surprised by how moist they are. 

We also appreciate that their buttercream fillings aren’t too overpowering. So don’t be surprised if you’re coming back for another big slice.

Aside from their rustic cakes, you can also grab quiche, banana bread, and dessert bars. But here’s our quick tip for you: try to visit the store before 10 AM, so you can take advantage of their wider selection.
