How We Chose the Best Dog Boarding Services in Phoenix
It’s stressful enough for your pooch to be in unfamiliar territory, so we looked into the facilities these companies have to make your pet feel comfortable.
We also considered their rates and how reasonable they were for the services they offered.
It was important for us to take into account these companies’ safety measures – for your and your pets’ peace of mind.
Naturally, you’d be checking in a lot on your pet. We looked into how reachable and responsive these companies were.
1. Pet Paradise
Services: Dog Boarding, Cat Boarding, Day Camp, Grooming
Address: 1675 West Happy Valley Road Phoenix, AZ 85085
Contact Number: (602) 277-3647
- Monday to Friday 6:30AM–7PM
- Saturday to Sunday 9AM–5PM
Pet Paradise Resort and Day Spa is exactly what you’d imagine when you hear its name – a premium service that offers resort-style pet day camp and care.
Think air-conditioned suites, raised beds, and deluxe bedding, all for your furry friend. For sure, it’s a vacation they wouldn’t mind taking.
Apart from the climate-controlled suits, they also have a bone-shaped swimming pool, kiddie pools, and splash pads on a synthetic grass play area. Jungle gyms and endless toys are included, too.
We also really appreciate their commitment to make the place safe and clean. All suites and surfaces are meticulously-disinfected in between uses with a quaternary ammonium compound, which helps eliminate the canine influenza virus.
Moreover, they often have a veterinarian on-site and are in partnership with several local vets who could provide emergency services.
As an added precaution, they require dogs to have veterinarian-administered vaccines. This was unclear on their website, as we’ve heard that some owners were unaware of this prior to dropping their pets off.
To help you keep an eye on your pet, they have a live webcam available on their website. We only wish that it showed more areas of the facility, rather than just the indoor play area.
After assessing your pet’s personality, they will determine a suitable room. For the indoor suite, the first dog’s rates start at $47, while a second one goes down to $32.
We think it’s a fair price, considering all the amenities your fur baby will get to enjoy. There are also some additional services you could avail, such as training classes and doggy baths.
2. Second Home Pet Resort
Services: Dog Boarding, Cat Boarding, Doggie Day Care, Special Needs, Grooming
Address: 747 E. Thunderbird Road Phoenix, AZ 85022
Contact Number: (602) 997-6600
- Monday to Friday 7AM–6PM
- Saturday 9AM–2PM
- Sunday 11AM–2PM
Second Home Pet Resort makes it a point to make all animals staying with them feel at home.
What we love about them is their amazing attention to detail. For starters, their driveway is covered so you can drop your pets off without their paws touching the scorching Arizona heat.
The boarding facility is fully-heated and air-conditioned for maximum comfort. Beautiful sky lights surround the building, bathing all animals in natural light.
Dogs will love their Splash & Play Water Park which features a waterfall and a maximum depth of 18”. Don’t worry, they have staff on-standby to watch over the pooches while they play.
Also, it doesn’t get too rowdy in there because they have individual dog pavilions to ensure that canine guests remain calm.
Rates start at $25/day for non-interactive day boarding and goes up to $90/night for their elite patio suite. More pets may stay in the same suite for an additional $30 each.
A few of their safety features include 7-foot high walls, fire sprinklers, fire alarms, security monitoring devices, and 24-hour staffing.
If you’re wondering about live viewing of your pets, you may avail of their Internet PetCam for $10/day. We do think it’s a little steep, considering how most dog boarding services offer this for free.
We’ve also heard reports that some of their staff members need better customer service training. Apparently, a few of them are not accommodating in giving updates about pets.
3. Camp Bow Wow
Services: Dog Boarding, Dog Day Care, Dog Grooming
Address: 2136 East Indian School Road Phoenix, AZ 85016
Contact Number: (480) 681-0555
- Monday to Friday 6:30AM–7:30PM
- Saturday to Sunday 8AM–7PM
Camp Bow Wow is one of the more well-known dog onboarding services. They have built a reputation for being reliable, fun, and customer-centric – and yes, that includes both you and your pet.
Their top-priority, like most pet owners, is the safety of their guests. Their camp counselors are extensively-trained in pet first aid and CPR, they have 24/7 monitoring, and live webcams are available for access.
On top of that, they screen their dog campers and make sure that each one is sociable, spayed or neutered, and vaccinated.
Tail wags are imminent in the several climate-controlled play yards they have. Although we wish they have more fun facilities for the dogs, as we’ve mostly seen just slides and jungle gyms.
We appreciate, too, that their prices are all-inclusive. Simply put, there are no hidden or additional charges; the price you see is the price you pay.
Their rates start at $58/night for an overnight boarding stay. For 2-3 campers, they offer the luxury private room with a TV for $134/night.
They are on the pricier side of dog boardings, but we still think that their rates are well-worth the splurge. You’re paying for the safety and comfort of your dogs, after all.
4. Phoenix Dogs 24/7
Services: Dog Boarding, Dog Day Care, Dog Grooming
Address: 10640 North 32nd Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85032
Contact Number: (833) 364-7247
Business hours: Open 24/7
Phoenix Dogs 24/7 pride themselves in their unique dog boarding services. Over 12 years ago, they set the trend for cage-free dog boarding and is the first major company in the valley to offer it.
We understand that it might be concerning for some pet owners that they don’t have kennels; however, most of their clients find this refreshing.
It seems that the staff are all attentive and adept at handling different breeds. It’s even more reassuring to know that they genuinely care for the pooches that stay with them, as they remember their names and personalities.
One of the major things that pet owners love about them is how they’re open 24/7. You can drop off your pooch at any time of the day and someone will be available to process their boarding.
We find this extremely helpful for people with busy and off-hours work schedules. It’s ideal, too, for those with flights to catch or appointments that are beyond typical business hours.
Their grounds are quite expansive, spanning 10,000 square feet for dogs to freely run around. However, we have heard some concerns about it not being as well-maintained as the indoor facility.
They are also on the more expensive side, with rates starting at $60 for overnight boarding. If you have the budget, we think they’re a solid choice.
5. Dogtopia of Historic Phoenix
Services: Dog Boarding, Dog Day Care, Dog Spa
Address: 520 W McDowell Rd, Phoenix, Arizona 85003
Contact Number: (602) 607-1500
Business hours: Monday to Sunday 5AM–10PM
For stress-free dog boarding, one of your best bets would be Dogtopia at Historic Phoenix. This is because they have a unique enrollment model in place where only dogs enrolled in daycare can enjoy access to boarding.
They do this because they believe in creating tight-knit packs for better friendship, safer play, and more learning – similar to an actual child daycare.
Here, fur babies are encouraged to play and make friends in their off-leash and supervised playrooms. They’re quite spacious, equipped with rubberized floors, and has an advanced UV air filtration system.
It’s also monitored by safety cameras that can be accessed all day by their owners.
The great thing about Dogtopia is they’re a Top Dog Facility – this means that they have certified canine coaches, proactive management, an extensive evaluation process, and dog-safe cleaning products.
Their prices range from $50/day to $280/week. Since you need to have your pet enrolled in their day care prior to boarding, the cost easily adds up to being more expensive.
Another downside we’ve heard is that they’re quite difficult to reach. Sometimes, it takes customers more than a few phone calls just to speak with someone.

Nadia’s Dog Nanny Services is definitely one of our favorites in the area. We think they’ll be giving you the peace of mind you need when you’re away.
Nadia’s been passionate about animals her entire life and has nothing but love and compassion for them. This is why we’d trust our furry friends with her and we wouldn’t be worried.
She is a CPR and First Aid Pet Certified. For more, she’s been in the medical field so she can handle any situation in a clear head and with utmost calmness in case and emergency comes up.
To add, she’s bonded, insured and a member of the Professional United Pet Sitters LLC.
We think the facilities are great too. There’s a temperature controlled room and lots of outdoor space to play and run in.
There’s even a covered patio with a/c to relax or play on our jungle gym!
Services offered include Dog Walking, Day Care, Boarding, Hiking, and Pet Sitting. These services range from $26-$60.
We like how she updates daily with texts, pictures and videos while the dogs are with her.
We’d be very comfortable with leaving our furry best friends with her and we think so will you!
