What we like about her is that she’s knowledgeable in her field, has extensive experience in working with couples and individuals, and also has the sensitivity to deal with difficult issues. She’s professional, easy to talk to, and very patient, based on our experience.
We also like how she’s very calming and helps you gain perspective when you seem stuck. She’s responsive and will give you a lot of great insight into how you can be better as a couple.
During marriage counseling, she helps couples have productive communication and ensures that each side is heard, understood, and even addressed to reach the couple’s goals in a relationship.
Aside from marriage and family counseling, she also offers the following services:
- Pre-marriage counseling

Cons

Established in 2012, Biltmore Psychology and Counseling is a bit younger compared to the other clinics on our list. Still, we included them because of their methodic and holistic approach to counseling and established clientele.
One of the things we like most about Biltmore Psychology and Counseling is that they offer in person, phone, and video appointments with their clients, making counseling more accessible and convenient to everyone.
Their team of psychologists and counselors are graduates from esteemed universities with extensive experience. Some even have doctorates in clinical psychology.
Not only are they qualified counselors, they’re also very professional, approachable, and easy to talk to. Marriage counseling is not easy, so it’s nice that the counselors at Biltmore Psychology and Counseling have the capacity to make people feel at ease.
They have a large team of counselors and psychologists that you can choose from depending on your needs as a couple.
In their marriage counseling sessions, they use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques in working with couples. Their goal is really to cultivate fulfilling relationships and work through issues in a pace the couple is comfortable with.
They can help with conflict resolution, cheating and affairs, LGBT couples counseling, communication difficulties, emotional distance, and other marital issues.
Aside from couples and marriage counseling, they also offer general counseling, family counseling, medical counseling, life coaching, and faith counseling.
As for booking, they have an online form but we found it way easier to schedule an appointment through their hotline, based on our experience.

If you’re looking for a faith-based approach to counseling, Crossroads Counseling is a good option. Although based in Phoenix, Crossroads Counseling has offices in Anthem, Biltmore, Paradise Valley, and Scottsdale as well.
After trying out their counseling services, it’s not surprising why this clinic has grown in the ways it did. For one, they really look out for their clients, based on what we’ve seen.
Their soft and empathetic approach to counseling makes clients feel safe and comfortable to work through their issues. For couples undergoing marriage counseling, the clinic provides a safe space where a neutral third person can help them through their concerns.
They’re thorough, hands on, and very attentive to the needs of their clients. They use a variety of methods depending on the needs of the couple.
Some of the research-based models of therapy include the following:
- Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- CBT
- DBT
- Mindfulness
- Solution Focused Therapy
- Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)
We like that they’re trained on different methods because there’s really no cookie cutter approach to counseling. Every client’s needs are different, so it’s important to have an extensive range of tools that can be applied.
They also now offer online and phone therapy sessions in case you don’t have time to physically go to their office for in-person sessions. They use HIPPA-compliant online platforms called Jane and Chime where you can discreetly and safely have your sessions.
Do know, however, that online therapy sessions aren’t always covered by insurance plans. So make sure to check with your insurance company first.
If you’re not sure where to begin, they offer a complimentary 20-minute phone assessment to get to know you and how they can help you.
Although they have an online sign up form, we think it’s easier and faster to just give them a call to schedule a session.

Favor and Grace Under Fire is spearheaded by Ashlea Taylor Barber and she received her bachelor’s in psychology and her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from Arizona State University.
Similar to others, during your initial session with them, the therapist will begin working with you to understand your initial concerns and set personal goals.
Additionally, this session will consist of reviewing any questions you may have about new client documents such as, rights as a client, confidentiality and privacy policies, as well as, service fees and scheduling.
But what makes them standout from others is that they do not only have Christian based therapy services!
Even though they have faith-based practices, their training allows them to utilize different therapeutic techniques with or without Christian based faith integration at the therapist’s discretion and client’s comfort.
