Stand Up Live is home to stand-up comedy, open mics, and drag shows. They also host special events, inviting well-known comedian actors such as David Koechner and Marlon Wayans (yes, the one from White Chicks!).

This comedy club also hosts trivia nights, which are more interesting for the younger crowd. And if you want to explore the stand-up comedy world, classes for 2026 are already up on their website.

It’s great that this comedy club can hold up to 600 people. We also appreciate that even if they’re expecting a large crowd, the entry process is expected to be smooth as well.

However, just be ready to sit closer to the person next to you, as the seating arrangement is quite tight.

While they serve food and drinks, we find them a little pricey. So we really suggest filling up somewhere else and just grab a few beer bottles during the show.

But don’t worry, parking won’t incur an extra cost as Stand Up Live validates parking tickets. In case parking slots are full, the Residence Inn is just a five-minute walk from the venue, so you may consider parking your car there.

Pros

  • Large venue
  • Validates parking tickets
  • Invites well-known comedian actors
  • Hosts trivia nights
  • Offers stand-up comedy classes

Cons

  • Food and drinks are a bit pricey
  • Slow waiter service during weekends

Invites the big names in comedy

“The BEST comedy club in all of Arizona!! They get all of the big names in comedy! Their food and drinks are always amazing! We always have the best time here!!”

Chris Callaghan, Google Review

Clean bathrooms

“Went to see DeRay the other night then hung out at the bar next door after. Had the best time! Was super impressed at how clean the bathrooms were. Although some of the women who used it should never use a restroom in public! Eeekk! The drinks were great & the establishment is in such a great location.”

If you’re looking for a spacious comedy club with comfortable seating, then check the comedy lineup here at Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy. The stage was even high enough, allowing us to see the comedians better, even if we’re not seated in front.

Even on weekends, we appreciate that the waiters here remain attentive. They’re also quick in serving food and drinks throughout the night.

Aside from their regular comedy acts, this comedy club is also a hub for emerging comedians in the city. If you want to catch them, consider attending their Tuesday Amateur Nights.

The food here is also quite decent, but be prepared to pay a premium. We recommend grabbing their chicken wings, though, as we enjoyed them the most during our stay.

You’ll also love that you don’t need to reserve tickets ahead of time, making them a great spot for a spontaneous night out with friends. And oh, they usually give free tickets for their next shows, which we really didn’t expect.

And if you’re celebrating your anniversary, don’t forget to mention it to their staff, as you might score a special dessert too, just like us.

Pros

  • Hosts comedy nights for upcoming artists
  • Attentive staff
  • Perfect for spontaneous comedy club plans
  • Gives out free tickets for their next shows

Cons

  • Expensive food and drinks
  • Actual costs could be higher than advertised rates

Great date night spot

“Never a bad show, always very pleased with their lineup, me and the wife have been many times, it’s a great time especially for a date night.”

Michael Brunetti, Google Review

Great sound system

“Solid show room! I caught the Tuesday show hosted by local comedian Patrick Aiken. Great weekday show and Patrick is a wonderful host. I enjoy getting a ginger beer while listening to some jokes. Solid seating. Great sound. I think you should check out this venue soon.”

For those who are looking for affordable spots to laugh and unwind, you’ll love it here at JP’s Comedy Club. For just $10, you can already watch the comedy shows with two drinks on the side.

Just take note that they’re only open twice a week, so they’re not a good option for midweek night outs.

Upon entry, the staff will walk you through their ordering process. Here, you’ll get your complimentary drinks ahead of the show. You can simply proceed to your seats and enjoy the night.

Of course, you can still head to the bar to order some more. However, keep in mind that the menu doesn’t display prices, so you won’t know the exact cost of your orders until the bill arrives.

But don’t worry, they usually limit the number of drinks to avoid a rowdy crowd, which keeps your tab manageable.

Aside from their comedy shows, this comedy club also offers comedy classes for those who want to learn the craft. Unfortunately, they only have limited slots, so make sure to sign up once the announcement’s up on their website.

Pros

  • Affordable ticket prices
  • Offers comedy classes

Cons

  • Doesn’t reflect prices on the menu
  • Restricts how many drinks each guest can order

Convenient location

“JP’s is a great place to see comedy! I’ve attended several shows since they first opened, since Covid. Awesome headliners and their open mic events that occur on some Thursdays are a nice way to get laughs in during the week. It’s a clean club, conveniently located (no traffic), plenty of parking, it’s family owned/operated – they will take care of you and make you laugh! A must see for comedy.”

Dominique D Antonio, Google Review

Well-organized comedy club

“Always a fun night out! We’ve been to this comedy club a few times now, and we always have a good time. The shows are entertaining, and the atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming. The staff is super friendly, the service runs smoothly, and everything feels really well organized. Even if not every comic is our exact style, we always end up laughing and leaving with smiles. It’s a great local spot to relax, have some drinks, and enjoy a fun evening out!”

Since we enjoy watching improv and open-mic shows, we make sure that we go to Tempe Improv every now and then. In fact, we made sure to secure tickets whenever they host special comedy nights.

Three months ago, they invited American television actors, Steve Burton and Bradford. So if you’re a fan of celebrity appearances, this is one good place to catch them.

Tempe Improv also offers meet-and-greet options. Just be prepared to stay after the show, as they typically don’t start the meet and greet immediately.

It’s also worth noting that the venue is tiny and often jam-packed. You should also expect some cozy seating, so you’ll likely be sitting shoulder to shoulder with others.

Also, here’s a handy tip from us: skip the front row seats if you visit the bathroom quite often. The space is so tight that it would be impossible to stand up during the show.

However, if you have a larger budget, we recommend utilizing the VIP area. Aside from having a larger space, this spot also offers the best view of the stage.

Pros

  • Has a VIP area
  • Invites American television actors
  • Offers a meet and greet at the end of the show

Cons

  • Very tight seating arrangement
  • Two-drink minimum is required to enter the venue

Serves non-alcoholic drinks

“We had a ton of fun. My job gave me tickets to go for free – catch is 2 drink minimum.. but they don’t have to be alcoholic! We ate, drank, and enjoyed the show. Lots of funny comedians. Had no idea who any of them were at the time but now follow some on social media. Would go back and recommend! Go early to get the best seating. We were there 20 minutes before the show, and had to sit in the back – which was fine, but if you want to be close, go when the doors open!”

Ashley Austin, Google Review

Great sound acoustics

“A nice entertaining venue. Just the right amount of time. Easy in, easy out. Seating is a bit too tight. Every seat has a decent view and acoustics are good. Attentive service.”

Whoever said improv and stand-up comedies are only for adults hasn’t been to JesterZ Improv Comedy. Here, the comedians and stage actors rely on audience participation for their kid-friendly improv acts.

But of course, if you still prefer a no-filter and more bold performance, choose a late show. No kids are allowed during this time, though, so plan your visit accordingly.

The show normally runs for seventy-five minutes. Be sure to visit the bathroom before the comedy actors take the stage, so you can enjoy the interactive show from start to finish.

Since they rely on audience participation, be ready to be called up on stage to join their skit. However, we’re well aware that an interactive nature isn’t for everyone. So if you’re a bit shy, you might feel a bit out of place here at JesterZ.

But for those who want to take a deeper dive into improv, this comedy club offers comedy workshops for both adults and kids.

Pros

  • Great comedy club for families
  • Offers comedy classes for kids and adults

Cons

  • Heavily relies on audience participation
  • Limited adult-only comedy shows

Quick and witty performers

“Did not know there was such good comedy and food on one place. This place is what Gilbert has been starving for, LIVE comedy. These performers are quick and witted beyond what we could think. We made it back a week later and my daughter laughed until she cried. It keeps getting better every time we go.”

No uncomfortable humor

“Can I give this a 1000 start review please?!! I co-hosted a retreat for a group of Christian singles and we attended JesterZ Improv (with dinner) as one of our activities. It was sooooo refreshing and comforting knowing we could just relax, eat good food, and enjoy a show without wondering if there will be any off-color or uncomfortable humor. I love how Jef Rawls and his team of comedians interacted with everyone in the audience; they developed a show that felt personal and uniquely curated! The humor was fantastic, and I would without reservation recommend JesterZ to people of all ages! Definitely get this on your calendar and have a laughter-filled night with friends or family! (And a plug for the food as well… the pulled chicken with slaw was so good!!)”
