The Top 5 Nutritionists in Phoenix

The Top 7 Nutritionists in Phoenix

How We Picked

Expertise

Like other types of healthcare, nutrition is not a cookie-cutter business. Hence, we looked for experts who can respond to each unique case through their level of proficiency and the scope of their practice.

Availability

We checked if they’re amenable to on-site and remote consultations, as well as their responsiveness considering those who require frequent sessions.

Credentials

It’s important to make sure that the nutritionists we chose have a reputable background in the industry. We looked for relevant certifications and educational achievements to prove they are qualified.

Professional Fees

It helps to have a better understanding of the costs and make informed decisions. With this in mind, we considered how transparent they are with billing and if they accept insurance.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • Licensed RND and Sports Dietetics Specialist
  • Offers group sessions, tours, and corporate wellness lecturing
  • Military discount is available

Cons

  • No insurance accepted
  • Premium rates
  • Unavailable from Friday through Sunday

Heather M. Duquette-Wolf has been the sole practitioner of HDM Nutrition since 1999.  She practices both as an RND and a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, which is remarkable.

What we like about her approach is that it’s comprehensive, focusing on all aspects of your health and wellness rather than just one area. If weight loss is your goal, you can expect more than what you’ve bargained for.

Her clinic is open to clients with varying needs. This includes those who suffer from autoimmune diseases and gut issues, as well as athletes who require specialized nutrition programs.

Aside from one-on-one counseling, she also accommodates group sessions. These are perfect for couples or families who prefer to achieve their goals together.

We didn’t know grocery shopping tours were a thing until we checked her services. In these sessions, she’ll demonstrate the proper way to read food labels while exploring different food options such as gluten-free, organic, and the like.

The only catch is that she doesn’t accept insurance, much to our disappointment. Just be ready with your budget, because we’ve heard her rates are a bit on the higher end.

As someone who runs her business alone and has extensive training and experience in the field, it’s understandable why.

All things considered, she’s a high-caliber choice, especially for athletes and those with medical conditions. Keep in mind that she’s only available four days a week.

Pros

  • Accepts major insurance providers
  • Active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Has a team of licensed RDNs
  • Wide scope of specializations and services

Cons

  • Reports on scheduling conflicts
  • Some reports on delayed appointments

The Nutrition Professionals are a group of devoted RDNs that specialize in evidence-based nutrition therapy.

Michelle Berman started as a sole practitioner in 2005, but she has since grown it into a company that services clients all over the country.

We like that they have over 10 licensed experts on their team. Their combined experience gives them the upper hand over most firms we’ve seen in the valley.

Moreover, they’re known for their accurate and individualized one-on-one programs. We’ve heard a lot of good experiences from clients, particularly those with underlying health problems.

Some of the conditions they have treated in the past include diabetes, gut problems, and eating disorders. They also give special attention to women’s health and sports nutrition through appropriate programs.

Their staff is said to be compassionate and supportive throughout the whole process, so we tip our hats off to them. Besides being well-informed on their lifestyle choices, clients find significant improvements in their health and well-being.

You also don’t have to worry about paying upfront, because they offer financing and payment plans. They accept most insurance providers in Arizona, which is more than you could ask for.

On the contrary, some clients have encountered scheduling problems where the attendant fails to show up on time. Others have also been reassigned to another specialist at the last minute, which could be off-putting.

By all accounts, they’re one of the most well-rounded nutritionists in Phoenix and have proven themselves time and again. However, their appointment scheduling could use some work.

Pros

  • 15+ years of experience in gut health
  • Upfront with rates
  • Offers a la carte services such as food allergy testing
  • RDN and registered yoga teacher

Cons

  • Initial consultation is expensive
  • Closed during weekends

Right Nutrition Works is owned and operated by Prajakta Apte, an RDN and registered yoga teacher. Her rare blend of expertise has led to a special focus on gut health through, of course, the right nutrition.

We like this approach because it seems to go straight to the root of most problems encountered by nutritionists, which involves the digestive system.

For Prajakta, nurturing the gut is a key to achieving health not just in the body, but in the mind and spirit as well. This outlook has made a profound impact on her long-term clients, based on what we’ve heard.

Her services encompass all kinds of needs but she also offers nutritional packages specific to autoimmune diseases, gut healing, and detox. Group programs are also available and completely based online.

On top of these, she accepts insurance for those with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and kidney diseases. We love that she’ll take the extra step of confirming the eligibility and benefits with your insurance provider.

Her services come with a complimentary 15-minute consultation as a litmus test. However, the initial consultation costs $197 for 60 to 75 minutes.

Despite this, her clients didn’t seem to mind as much considering what they get in return.

We’ve heard she’s thorough and accurate right off the bat, which gives her clients full confidence in her abilities. So far, we’ve only seen glowing testimonials.

Pros

  • Highly personalized programs
  • Wide scope of services, including sports and post-natal nutrition
  • Rated A+ and accredited by the BBB
  • Hands-on and collaborative approach

Cons

  • Does not accept insurance
  • Services come at a premium

Marti Burton, a certified nutritionist or CN, has been at the helm of Personalized Nutrition Concepts for over 20 years. The company was borne out of her passion for nutrition, which she continues to study to date.

In addition, she also likes to share her knowledge through keynote speaking at conferences and media interviews on local and national TV. Aside from the US, her company’s services are also available in Canada.

They focus primarily on optimizing metabolic efficiency, which measures how well the body uses fat as an energy resource. This can be achieved through a comprehensive analysis of your eating habits and body functions at the cellular level.

Their programs are designed for the long term, so expect recurring visits to their clinic. This might be something to consider for those who are only looking for one-off consultations.

We think it’s worth giving a shot since they make necessary adjustments throughout the process based on how your body responds. They also provide educational tools, which we find helpful in the long run.

The only downside is that their services are more expensive than others, especially since they don’t accept insurance. This could break the deal for those on a budget or those who can’t pay upfront.

Nevertheless, we think they’re worth the investment. Based on general client accounts, their diet plan has proven sustainable and has led to desirable outcomes.

Pros

  • Team of licensed clinical nutritionists
  • Flexible and transparent payment plans
  • Has a proven track record
  • Healthy philosophy on weight loss

Cons

  • Irregular operating hours
  • Limited scope of practice

Revitalize Weight Loss & Wellness consists of board-certified clinical nutritionists and coaches who focus on weight loss and wellness programs. They’re also a proud nutrition partner of the Phoenix Suns, which is impressive.

Their philosophy hinges on the belief that losing weight is a journey that one can enjoy and that there is no such thing as “bad” food.

We’ve heard testimonials that attest to this, pointing out how participating in their program has changed their outlook on food.

We like that they set realistic standards and goals, and don’t rely on medication for their treatments. Clients also appreciate the accountability they get to ensure that they’re on the right track.

Along with their holistic approach to nutrition, they also boast cutting-edge biometric technology. This allows for an accurate understanding of body conditions and functions, which results in a clear-cut, personalized program that guarantees results.

This is especially helpful in identifying medical conditions, which is something they also work around with.

If it’s your first time, they have a special offer of $29 for the initial consultation without the pressure to enroll in their program. They also offer flexible payment plans and accept HSA and FSA insurance.

Just like any other nutrition service, their program isn’t for everyone. We advise making the most out of your initial visit before deciding if their approach would fit your needs.
