Top 5 Nursing Homes in Phoenix
How We Chose the Best Nursing Homes in Phoenix
Facilities
We considered how much thought these nursing homes put into their rooms and amenities.
Living Culture
It was also important for us to look into how these homes take care of their residents. We took into account the overall vibe and enrichment activities they carry out.
Financing
Nursing homes tend to be expensive, so we also looked into their flexibility allowance when it came to payment and insurance coverages.
Customer Service
It was imperative for us to consider the kind of service their team members provide not just for the residents, but their families as well.

Pros
- Known for quality of service
- Facility has a positive and welcoming vibe
- Offers financing assistance
Cons
- Some rooms and furniture are dated
- Could improve food selections
Haven Health has several locations across Arizona, but their Phoenix one deserves a special mention for its quality of service.
Their staff is composed of a dedicated team of healthcare providers. Among them are skilled nursing professionals and certified therapists who work with their residents’ individual needs.
From what we’ve heard, the facility has a welcoming and positive vibe. It seems that the residents are provided with group and individual activities that help build good rapport and relationships.
Apparently, even the nurses are attentive and compassionate. It has even been said that a lot of them treat the residents as their own family members.
We find all these to be reassuring to hear, especially to family members of the residents.
The facility also offers assistance with AHCCCS/ALTCS applications to help ease the financial load. There are also financing options available for resident or insurance co-pays.
An area they could probably work on is renovating or refurbishing the rooms. It appears that a few of their rooms and furniture are dated.
Another thing would be their food options, as we’ve heard that they’re quite limited.
Still, all things considered, we think they’re a good choice if you ever need their services.

Pros
- Has been around for over 19 years
- Exceptional architectural design and impressive rooms
- Warm and inviting atmosphere
- Offers several financing options
Cons
- Relatively more expensive rates
- Could offer more facilities or programs for the residents
For over 19 years, Morning Star Senior Living has been offering assisted living to elderly residents and more.
We believe that first impressions matter, and it seems that they do, too. Walking in, it’s hard not to be impressed by their exceptional architecture and design.
Their rooms are even more impressive. Spacious and thoughtfully-designed, they’re ready to receive visitors and callers at all times.
Despite this, they managed to make the atmosphere warm and inviting. In fact, it seems like most of the families and residents are drawn into the loving and welcoming community in their facility.
These could also be attributed to their staff members. They make sure to nourish friendships not just between them, but among the residents as well.
We also appreciate that they offer several financing options. They have partnered with Elderlife Financial Services, too, to help present different financial resources.
On top of that, they offer veteran benefits and accept a variety of insurance providers. So, even though their rates are relatively more expensive, we think it’s considerate of them to allow these options.
For their rates, though, we feel like they could offer more facilities and programs for the residents. We did hear that they serve excellent cuisine and menus daily, so at least that’s another point for them in our book.

Pros
- Premiere and pet-friendly retirement community
- Wide variety of services and amenities offered
- Staff members are known to be kind and caring
Cons
- Rates are on the pricier side
- Reports of slow responses and unreturned calls
Pacifica Senior Living is a premiere and pet-friendly retirement community. What we like about them is their focus on helping their residents become happy, healthy, and comfortable.
While this should be the primary goal of every nursing home, we still commend them for showcasing this in many ways.
They offer standard services such as move-in assistance, weekly housekeeping, trash service, laundry, and personalized care.
But they also impress with their amenities – beauty salons, clubhouse, devotional services onsite, indoor community spaces, billiards, and more.
We like that their staff members have a reputation for being kind and caring. Apparently, most of them have warm personalities that residents find endearing.
We also heard that the families feel as though their loved ones are in safe space. We think this is big and one of the best compliments that a nursing home can receive, so kudos to them.
Note that their prices are also on the higher side, but considering the service one gets from them, we think it’s worth it.
If anything, we think they could work on being more communicative with the families. There have been some reports that not all calls are returned.
All in all, we think they’re a solid choice for a nursing home.

Pros
- Well-maintained, spacious buildings
- Pet-friendly
- Wide variety of services and amenities offered
- No hidden fees; rates are displayed on the website
Cons
- Rates are relatively more expensive
- Few financing options available
Health and wellness are the cornerstones of Mountain Park Senior Living. Here, they welcome and encourage all sorts of lifestyles to best accommodate their residents.
What we like about them is that they have excellent rooms and facilities. From beauty salons to sky lounges, demonstration kitchens to a theater – there’s bound to be something for everyone.
They’re also pet-friendly. So, when you move in, your pet moves in with you.
Their edge, however, lies in the attitude of their staff members. It seems like the families and residents love how welcoming and wonderful they are.
When it comes to facilitated activities, they’re apparently very attentive and participative. They make sure that everyone is attended to and enjoying themselves.
We also really appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into designing the building. It’s well-maintained and spacious enough for every resident.
With them, there are no hidden fees, buy-in fees, and everything is communicated upfront. We find this transparency refreshing; and all their rates are readily-available for viewing on their website.
They are on the pricier side, but most of the families don’t mind paying a premium for their services.
We wish, though, that they offered more financing options. Other than that, we think they’re a great choice if you have the budget for them.

Pros
- Relatively affordable rates
- Staff members are known to be kind and compassionate
- Communicative and responds quickly to inquiries
Cons
- Limited amenities available
- Few financing options
For those with tight purse strings, Avista Senior Living offers services for almost any budget.
The great thing about them is they don’t sacrifice their quality of service. Even with limited amenities, they make do of what they have and invest themselves in the well-being of their residents.
Apart from facilitated activities, they encourage residents to live an active lifestyle and serve delicious, healthy meals.
And, even though it’s their job to look after the residents, they strive to enhance independence among everyone. This allows residents to still feel self-sufficient and in control of their lives.
From what we’ve heard, their entire team is compassionate and empathetic. They make sure that residents are always comfortable and attended to.
We also appreciate that they’re communicative with the families. It seems that they speak with kindness and are able to make difficult decisions bearable.
These comments tell us that they’re sensitive to families and residents. These are always great qualities to find in a nursing home, so we give them major props for it.
We only wish that they’d provide more financing options. Even with relatively lower rates, we still think these would help aid the financial load on families.
