For those of you who love working with your hands and getting into jewelry-making, then Harold Studio is one of the workshop studios you should explore around Phoenix. 

Here, they offer one-day workshops. But if you’re really serious about it (or maybe planning to build your own jewelry brand), then we suggest enrolling in their five-week class instead.

One of the best experiences we had here was the wedding band workshop. This is a full-day session, running from nine in the morning until five in the afternoon. This allows you and your significant other to craft your own wedding rings.

They even document the whole experience, which can be a fun (and unique) addition to your wedding video.

Meanwhile, the instructors here make the process really enjoyable and easy to follow, even for total beginners like us. They also shared with us a few recommendations on where to buy tools and supplies, which is helpful if you want to continue at home.

However, keep in mind that the studio is quite small, so it can feel cramped during class. Additionally, some of their tools looked worn out, which might be an issue if you’re used to a more polished studio.

PIP Coffee + Clay is a must-try if you love getting hands-on while shaping something. This studio is widely known for its wheel-throwing pottery workshops, but you can also explore embroidery, block printing, and even weaving.

Pottery classes here run about 2.5 hours, a perfect amount of time to learn a new skill without feeling rushed.

What we loved most is that you can create more than one item in a single class, so you walk out with several souvenirs from your session.

You can also expect the instructors to be very hands-on. During our class, we commend them for going over the instructions multiple times to make sure we understand everything clearly.

Another highlight? The studio has a cafe bar, so you can grab coffee, wine, beer, or a few cocktails while working on your pieces. 

And for the ladies out there, here’s a quick tip for you: skip those press-on or long nails, and leave your jewelry at home, as you’ll be asked to remove them anyway.

And oh, PIP Coffee + Clay is cashless, so make sure your digital payment or cards are ready.

We decided to check out Milkweed Arts because we’ve always been fascinated by glasswork. Here, you can try making glass lanterns, fused glass, and even 3D glass works.

What we love about this studio is that they partner up with guest artists every month. During our visit, we enrolled in the fused glass wafer roses and freeze casting workshops, both guided by Wesley Wong, a California-based glass artist.

However, the visiting artist workshops can feel a bit limiting due to time constraints, so it’s best to manage your expectations if you’re considering them.

Nonetheless, we love that their in-person classes are informative yet casual, with all equipment provided in kits for each student. 

You can also expect the instructors to go over everything before you start. They are happy to provide extra one-on-one assistance if you need it.

They also keep class sizes small, so you can get undivided attention during the workshop. Additionally, the facility is clean and organized, making it easy to focus and enjoy the creative process.

The best part is that the class price is very reasonable, leaving you some extra budget to buy more glass and other materials.

Invites renowned artists to lead workshops

We checked out Sunshine Craft Co as we were curious about a studio that offers a wide range of arts and crafts classes. Here, you can try everything from acrylic pour painting and embroidery to soap making and even creating your own perfume.

We love how the studio itself is open and airy, welcoming plenty of natural light, which makes the place even more inviting and inspiring. And despite its spacious layout, the studio still feels cozy, with tables arranged for easy collaboration.

Just keep in mind that the studio is only open on Saturdays, so you really need to secure a spot in advance unless you’re willing to queue for months.

On a lighter note, we love that their online registration and directions were pretty straightforward. Moreover, the instructor provided both verbal and printed instructions to guide us through our project.

One of the highlights was Amy, one of the instructors at Sunshine Craft Co. She didn’t make anyone feel rushed, and she also made sure to run around the room just to check in with every student.

However, this workshop studio takes a long holiday break in December, so it’s not the best option if you’re looking for a holiday party or even a seasonal activity.

Makes great conversations while doing the workshop

Right away, we realized that Craft Nights is perfect for anyone who loves trying different crafts or simply wants a creative break from their usual weekend routine.

One of the first workshops we tried here was the Bread Bowl Candle workshop, where you get to pour your own candles into, well, bread-shaped molds. 

The following week, we tried their String Art class. It was surprisingly relaxing once you got used to the hammering and threading.

And if you’re in the mood to go wild, the Splatter Painting workshop is where you can go full abstract without worrying about the mess. We observed that this is one of the most favorite activities among families, so you may want to try this with your kids.

Craft Nights also hosts a signature Craft Bar. It’s where you can drop in to make mini projects like sugar scrubs, scented candles, and even a perfume oil roller.

Another thing we love about this studio is that their music is always on point, which really helps create a more relaxing vibe. Just a heads up, though, that this spot is better for smaller groups, as larger parties might find the space a bit tight.

For parents out there, you’ll also appreciate their Kid Summer Camp. It’s a five-day creative program for incoming first through eighth graders.
