The 5 Best Cremation Services in Phoenix
How We Chose the Best Cremation Services in Phoenix
Staff Demeanor
Losing a loved one is never easy. So, we made sure to consider ones that were known to be consoling and sympathetic.
Convenience of Packages
We also looked into the convenience of all-in packages to help the grieving and overwhelmed. This includes how efficient and easy-to-follow their system is as well.
Payment Flexibility
We took into account how flexible their payment terms are and whether or not they had financing options.
Reachability
It was imperative for us to consider how easy they were to reach and how responsive they are.

Pros
- Has been in business for over 48 years
- Affordable cremation plans
- Offers simple, all-in packages and customizable ones
Cons
- Does not offer a lot of flexibility when it comes to payments
- Reports of errors in contracts and paperwork
Neptune Society is a well-known establishment for crematory services. Being in the business for over 48 years, they have assisted tens of thousands of families.
Here in Phoenix, they have a reputation for providing affordable and immediate cremation plan services.
They make themselves available at any time of the day. And once you call, they will make all the necessary arrangements including transfers, documentation, and the return.
It goes well-appreciated that they keep the entire process simple and not overwhelming. They have signature all-in packages and customizable ones, too.
What we like most, however, is that they’re known to be incredibly professional. Not only are they helpful to whatever the family needs, but they’re also compassionate.
Their ultimate goal is to carry out a loved one’s final wishes in an affordable manner, and to do it with dignity and respect for their families.
Our only wish is that they’d offer more flexibility in their payments. Although, we do appreciate that they give discounts for a few special cases, especially for veterans.
Another common concern we’ve heard is that they’re not very attentive to details. Apparently, there have been instances of erroneous paperwork that led to confusion for both parties.
We hope they deal with this matter, as we feel that mistakes in contracts just add unnecessary problems to an already-grieving family.

Pros
- One of the first few funeral homes in Phoenix; has been around since 1903
- Family-owned and -operated
- Customizable cremation services
- Can assist with out-of-state transfers
Cons
- Few reports of miscommunication regarding contracts
- Sends a ton of emails
One of the first funeral homes in Phoenix is Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home. They’ve been around since 1903, and from what we’ve heard, they continue to improve upon their services.
As a family-owned and -operated business, they have passed down the ideals that made them what they are. They built their reputation on compassion and honest care, which is why they remain on top of their field today.
Convenience is high on their priority list, offering a full range of services and merchandise that you may need.
Their cremation services, for one, are customized according to the family of the deceased’s wishes. Choose among the most basic or more personal service, and they’ll make it happen.
They can also assist with out-of-state arrangements should you want to have the remains transferred.
It seems that they’re regarded for top-notch customer service. Their representatives are known to go above and beyond just to make a tough situation so much easier for the families.
Unfortunately, we’ve also heard of shortcomings on their end. A few of their previous clients reported several miscommunications regarding the contract.
Also, we’ve been told that they send tons of promotional emails. We think this is borderline spammy and annoying, but you can always opt out of their subscription list.

Pros
- Simple, efficient cremation packages and process
- Assigns two dedicated representatives for your family
- Known to have respectful and sympathetic staff members
Cons
- Smaller team which gets too busy at times
- Traditional cremation services or ceremonies are done at a different location
For almost 8 years, Simply Cremation & Funeral Arrangements has been a full-service concierge to their namesake.
There are a few things we like about them. For starters, they make the cremation process as simple as possible, taking all the stress of planning away from the bereaved families.
While most similar companies would assign a representative for you, their company will give you two dedicated team members. This means that someone will always be available should you have questions or concerns.
Although, we’d like to point out that they’re a small team. So as much as they’d like to attend to your needs solely, they can get busy with other families as well.
Another would be their facility. It’s clean, modern, and has a tasteful design that doesn’t feel too “quiet” or ostentatious.
A downside for us is that viewing or funeral services are not an option at their location. For traditional cremation services, they coordinate with their sister company, Thompson Funeral Chapel.
We find this to be a bit of a hassle, as it requires visiting two places instead of just one.
However, the previous families they’ve helped don’t seem to mind as much. It’s more important for them to feel respected and sympathized with – which is exactly what this good business brings.

Pros
- Family-owned and -operated for over 70 years
- Sympathizes with families, especially during the acute loss period
- Wide range of crematory services available
Cons
- Premium prices
- Doesn’t offer much flexibility for payments
- Reports of delays in the delivery of certificates
Hansen Mortuary is another family-owned and -operated business that has been providing complete care to bereaved families for over 70 years.
What we like about them is how they took all their experience and learned how they can provide their sympathies better.
They especially pay a great deal of attention to the acute loss period, which is the period between the event of death and the onset of grief.
By doing this, they’re able to assist families in seven phases – hearing, sharing, seeing, gathering, connecting, reflecting, and celebrating.
It’s also been said that those who are new to the funeral planning process are paid extra attention. They’re able to walk the bereaved through the process in an empathic and professional way.
When it comes to their crematory services, they provide a wide range of options. We like the fact, too, that everything is customizable to the wishes of the families.
Because they’re independently-owned, expect to pay a premium for their services. And while they don’t offer much payment flexibility, they do give special discounts for veterans.
Although, we’d like to point out that we have heard of some complaints regarding delays in the delivery of certificates. Apparently, some of their clients had to make several follow up calls.

Pros
- Has been around for 30 years
- Offers affordable cremation packages
- Flexible payment options are available
- Helpful in insurance claims and other necessary processes
Cons
- Needs to work on a better scheduling system
- Slow to return calls and respond to inquiries
With 30 years of experience under their belt, Samaritan Funeral & Cremation Services have definitely made a respectable name for themselves.
Their main edge lies in the fact that they offer several low cost packages for burials and cremations. They’re also customizable and adjustable depending on your needs.
What’s more is they offer flexible payment options to alleviate one’s financial load. We think this is extremely considerate of them as most families tend to get overwhelmed on these unfortunate occasions.
We also hear that their staff is a friendly and helpful bunch. Even if you have no idea where to start, they’re able to guide you through the insurance, social security, and bank processes.
Such is the case for Eddie, who is often mentioned to be professional and compassionate in every way. It seems that he’s also very respectful to the family’s wishes – never pushing for add-ons and extra costs.
An area they could probably work on is a better scheduling system. We’ve heard of some cases wherein scheduled cremations were pushed back a day or two.
It also seems that they’re not as keen on returning phone calls. We wish they would work on this, as it really hurts their customer service reputation.
