The 20 Best Water Parks In and Around Phoenix

The 20 Best Water Parks In and Around Phoenix

To some, the best thing about Phoenix is its year-round sunny weather. To others, it’s the bustling and sprawling metropolis that’s alive with so many things to do.

While we love both of those about this thriving city, we’re (slightly) partial to the latter. We love how one can never run out of places to go – whether you’re up for hiking, going to a museum, or even listening to live music.

And on days when the sun is a little too much to handle, we absolutely love how there are several places one can visit to cool down. The Valley of the Sun is home to a ton of water parks, too!

Read on below to find out our top water park picks for those sweltering summer days. We’d love to hear which ones you plan on visiting!

The Best Water Parks In and Around Phoenix

Now let’s look at each one we’ll let you in on what makes them unique.

1. Great Wolf Lodge

Great Wolf Lodge

Website: https://www.greatwolf.com/arizona

Address: 7333 N Pima Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85258

Contact Number: (480) 948-9653

Ticket Rates: $55 for a full-day pass; $44 for a half-day pass

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 10AM–8PM

The Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor waterpark and resort that offers a lot of exciting activities for kids and adults alike.

How does a multi-level interactive water treehouse sound to you? Or a Chinook cove where you can swim, splash, and shoot some hoops?

If you’d like more thrill, this water park also has the River Canyon Run – a fun raft adventure where you’ll be twisting, gliding, and careening through bending curves.

Afterwards, head over to the Crooked Creek and laze through the river in a much more relaxed fashion.

There are 14 attractions here in total. And, they’re all designed to be enjoyable in their own ways with varying thrill levels.

Since it’s also a resort, you can actually turn your outing into a staycation. Here, guests can enjoy premium suites, several dining options, and other attractions like mini-golf, an arcade, and more.

2. Oasis Water Park

Oasis Water Park

Website: https://www.arizonagrandresort.com/oasis-water-park/

Address: 8000 Arizona Grand Pkwy, Phoenix, AZ 85044

Contact Number: (602) 438-9000

Ticket Rates: $60 for adults; $55 for kids

Opening Hours: Monday to Thursday, 10AM–5PM; Friday to Sunday, 9AM–6PM

Oasis Water Park, located inside the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa, is a 7-acre water park that has tall water slides, a long and winding lazy river, and more.

When we say tall, we really mean tall. Their main attraction is the eight-story Slide Canyon Tower which has three water slides – the Sidewinder, the Free Fall, and the Roadrunner.

A crowd favorite is the Sidewinder, which is a gradual 31-foot drop and spans over 300-feet long. The other two, on the other hand, both feature a 51-foot drop.

If steep slides aren’t your thing, enjoy lazing around the Wild Cat Springs splash pad or ride the waves at the Giant Wave pool.

And before you leave, we suggest taking a dip at the Caliente Springs. It’s a massive hot tub that’ll help relax and relieve muscle aches.

While day passes are available, we do suggest staying at the hotel to enjoy most of the other amenities. We’ve heard that their in-house restaurant serves up a mean and authentic hilltop steakhouse, too.

3. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

Website: https://www.sixflags.com/phoenix

Address: 4243 W Pinnacle Peak Rd, Glendale, AZ 85310

Contact Number: (623) 201-2000

Ticket Rates: $54.99 for a gold pass; $74.99 for a platinum pass; $224.99 for a diamond pass

Opening Hours: Saturday, 11AM–5PM

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is an award-winning water park with over 30 slides, rides, and attractions. It’s one of the more popular destinations to beat the summer heat, simply because there’s so much to do and see.

Whether you want to go on an open-air or an enclosed slide, they have it here – with twists and adrenaline-spiking drops at that.

You’ll find many thrilling and high-energy rides here. One that visitors often line up for is the Anaconda, where riders speed through an enclosed slide with corkscrew turns and a series of spirals, eventually shooting out into splashdown.

Another unique ride is the Bahama Blaster which is the first and only of its kind in the world. It’s the ultimate thrilling ride where gravity-defying water coasters blast riders up to 830 feet.

The latest addition to the park is Paradise Island. It’s a massive activity pool with over a quarter of a million gallons of clear, blue water where guests can cool off and play volleyball or basketball.

You can also host events and hold parties here. And, you can sign up to be a member for some additional perks such as discounts and priority entry.

4. Kiwanis Wave Pool

Kiwanis Wave Pool

Address: 6111 S All America Way, Tempe, AZ 85283

Contact Number: (480) 350-5702

Ticket Rates: $7 for general admission; $5 for kids; $4 for non-swimmers

Opening Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7–10AM, 5–8PM; Friday, 7–10AM; Saturday, 8AM–11AM; Sunday, CLOSED

For a quick dip but still more fun than a regular pool, Kiwanis Wave Pool inside the Recreation Center of Kiwanis Park would be a good option.

It’s the valley’s only indoor wave pool that features three-foot waves in eight different patterns. And, the pool is climate-controlled, so you don’t have to worry about it being too freezing or too warm.

Apart from the waves, you’ll be able to enjoy their 16-feet tall double spiral water slide. They also have rafts and pool tubes available for rent.

While it’s not as big and it doesn’t have as many amenities as other water parks, it is a well-maintained facility that still offers much fun. Pro tip: arrive as early as you can, as the pool does get crowded especially during weekends and summer.

5. River Ranch Water Park

River Ranch Water Park

Image Source: Hilton Phoenix Resort at the Peak

Website: https://www.hiltonphoenixresortatthepeak.com/river-ranch-water-park

Address: 7677 N 16th St, Phoenix, AZ 85020

Contact Number: (602) 997-2626

Ticket Rates: $35 for adult day passes; $20 for kids’ day passes

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 10AM–6PM

Just a mere 20-minute drive from downtown is River Ranch Water Park located at the Hilton Phoenix Resort at the Peak.

What we like about this water park, apart from how near it is to the city, is that there are multiple pools with waterslides and their own water features. There’s also a lazy river that winds through a bunch of pretty flowers, shaded by lovely palm trees.

Again, it’s not the most diverse water park out there in terms of attractions, but we love how serene the place is. There are tons of cabanas that you can rent out, and they’re spacious enough for families and large groups.

Their in-house bar, Slim Picken’s, serves up some refreshing cocktail drinks and delicious bar chow. After a full-day under the sun, make your way to their full-service spa for optimum relaxation.

The place is also open daily, so feel free to drop by any day. Expect more crowds and kids over the weekend, though.

6. Desert Oasis Aquatic Center

Desert Oasis Aquatic Center

Website: https://www.chandleraz.gov/

Address: 1400 W Summit Pl, Chandler, AZ 85224

Contact Number: (480) 732-1062

Ticket Rates: $2.25 for adults; $1.25 for seniors; $1 for kids

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 10AM–5PM; Saturday, 11AM–6PM; Sunday, 12PM–6PM

If you’re looking for a full pool and water park experience, the Desert Oasis Aquatic Center provides just that. It not only has a 112-foot figure-eight water slide and a deep-water drop slide, it also has a 25-yard, eight-lane pool and diving boards.

There are also some adorable 20-feet fun-brellas all around the park and a raindrop and water table. Shade ramadas are plenty, so there’s still much shade even if the park is mostly open.

Even though it’s a public place, it doesn’t get quite as crowded as other similar facilities. The amenities are well-maintained, too, and clean.

Just a fun little fact – in 1993, the place was the recipient of the Arizona Parks and Recreation “Outstanding Facility” award. We’re glad to see that they’ve continued to upgrade and renovate the park to maintain its charm among the community.

On May weekends until Labor Day, they open the park for public swim opportunities. They also accommodate swimming lessons here to school and community groups.

So if you’re just looking for an easy and affordable way to beat the heat, we think this park is one of your best bets.

7. Mesa Golfland Sunsplash

Mesa Golfland Sunsplash

Website: https://www.golfland.com/mesa/

Address: 155 W Hampton Ave, Mesa, AZ 85210

Contact Number: (480) 834-8319

Ticket Rates: $49.87 for general admission; $46.17 for junior and senior admission

Opening Hours: Monday to Thursday, 10AM–10PM; Friday to Saturday, 10AM–12AM; Sunday, 11AM–10PM

Another fun and family-friendly destination is Golfland Sunsplash. It’s open year-round and has over 30 attractions and rides.

Our favorite is the Double Dare – a super fast almost straight-drop slide that’ll have your adrenaline spiking up. Another are the Dragon Tail Rides, which are a series of tall, long, and winding slides.

For kids, there are the Shipwreck Rock Slides, which look exactly as they sound. Then there’s also The Cauldron, which takes one around a big cauldron-shaped slide several times before hitting calmer waters.

What we love most here is that it doesn’t get too crowded. The park is spacious enough to accommodate all guests and the lines at the slides are relatively short, too.

Even though you’re probably interested in the water park, we’d still like to mention some other fun things to do at the park. There are three mini golf courses, an arcade, a go-kart track, bumper boat, and more.

We suggest arriving early and bringing with you a set of clothes, as you’ll probably end up wanting to try some of the other fun things to do here.

8. Hamilton Aquatic Center

Hamilton Aquatic Center

Website: https://www.chandleraz.gov/

Address: 3838 S Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85248

Contact Number: (480) 782-2630

Ticket Rates: $2.25 for adults; $1.25 for seniors; $1 for kids

Opening Hours: Monday to Thursday, 5:30AM–7:30AM; Saturday to Sunday, 12PM–5PM

Another quick and affordable day trip option for a water park is the Hamilton Aquatic Center. It’s a public and shared-use facility inside Hamilton High School, and you’ll be surprised at how clean and well-maintained it is.

The center was awarded by Arizona Parks and Recreation as an “Outstanding Facility” in 2001. It was also given the Arizona Republic Reader’s Choice Award Runner-up Best Kids Water Park or Pool in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

Here, guests can enjoy the interactive water features, a water vortex, a current river, and water slides – all with zero-depth entry for kids. And if you’d like to do a full swim, they also have an eight-lane pool with diving boards.

We also really like that there are multiple lifeguards on standby, so it gives parents additional ease regarding their childrens’ safety.

The place is open and mostly bathes under the sun, but they do have tons of shade ramadas. Still, we suggest that you lather on the sunscreen.

Another tip is to bring cash as most food stands don’t accept cashless payments. And, Sundays can get extremely busy so either arrive early or plan your visit on a weekday.

9. Adventure Water Park

Adventure Water Park

Image Source: Westin Hotels & Resorts

Website: https://www.marriott.com/en-us/

Address: 6902 E Greenway Pkwy, Scottsdale, AZ 85254

Contact Number: (480) 624-1000

Ticket Rates: Starts at $50 for adults; Starts at $35 for kids

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 10AM–6PM

For a luxurious take on a water park experience, one of our go-tos is Adventure Water Park at the Kierland Resort & Spa.

What we love about this place is the iconic Kierland Flowrider – a really fun surfing simulator amidst the desert. It’s part surfing, part snowboarding, and part wakeboarding all rolled up into one thrilling experience.

Apart from that, the park also features a lazy river and a water slide that spans 110-feet long. This is a great place for families to come hang out as there are spacious cabanas for rent.

If you’d like something more private, they also offer the Tommy Bahama Relaxation Reef experience where you can relax on your own “island”. It’s at a slightly secluded area but you get eight lounge chairs and access to all the best attractions of the park.

A few things we’d also like to point out is that the pools are heated, towels are provided, and lifeguards are always on duty for everyone’s safety.

And if you’d like to spend a day away from the kids, they have an adults-only heated pool in the resort. We know that parents need their quiet time, too.

10. Surprise Aquatic Center

Surprise Aquatic Center

Website: https://surpriseaz.gov/567/Aquatics

Address: 15831 N Bullard Ave, Surprise, AZ 85374

Contact Number: (623) 222-2500

Ticket Rates: $3 for adults; $2 for kids

Opening Hours: Saturday to Sunday, 12PM–5PM

Surprise! Another community pool made it to our list – and rightfully so. The Surprise Aquatic Water Center offers residents and visitors an affordable and fun way to beat the heat.

Here, kids and adults can take their time enjoying tunnel slides, a vortex whirlpool, flume sides, and diving boards. Have we mentioned that the pool is big and is competition-sized?

We absolutely love how clean the place is. And, for such affordable fees, there are so many play areas that children will just adore.

Lifeguards are also on standby, so you wouldn’t need to worry too much. There’s a snack bar, too, and a fishing lake just across the place.

Don’t be surprised to find the place crowded, though, as it’s only open on weekends. Bring your own umbrella (the pool lounges get filled fast) and your own towels.

11. Big Splash Water Park

Big Splash Water Park

Image Source: Anthem Community Center Management via TripAdvisor.com

Website: https://www.onlineatanthem.com/

Address: 41130 N Freedom Way, Anthem, AZ 85086

Contact Number: (623) 879-3011

Ticket Rates: $7 guest fee (must be accompanied by a member)

Opening Hours: Saturday to Sunday, 10AM–5PM

For Anthem residents and authorized guests, the community center is a great place to cool down as it has a full-on aquatics park.

Because only members and authorized guests are allowed, the place never gets crowded. But this does mean that you either need to be a member, or have one list you down for entry.

You’ll find here the Big Splash Water Park, which has two water slides, an interactive play structure, and the popular big red bucket. This bucket is a hit among kids and dumps more than 200 gallons of water at 4-minute intervals.

For adults, the park also features a heated lap pool, a deep-water diving well, and two diving boards at varying heights.

We absolutely love how diverse this water park is. Unfortunately, it’s only open seasonally and during weekends, but we still think it’s worth a visit whenever you’re in the area.

12. Enchanted Island Amusement Park Splash Zone

Enchanted Island Amusement Park Splash Zone

Website: https://www.enchantedisland.com/

Address: 1202 W Encanto Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85007

Contact Number: (602) 254-1200

Ticket Rates: $7 for an All-Day Splash Zone Pass

Opening Hours: Friday to Saturday, 10AM–8PM; Sunday, 12PM–8PM

It’s not exactly a big water park, but the fun it gives kids remains all the same. Enchanted Island’s Amusement Park may have a ton of rides, but it’s the latest addition – the Splash Zone – that has been making waves.

The Splash Zone is strictly for kids of all ages. It features flower showers, water mushrooms, dumping buckets, and loads more fun interactive water plays.

It’s an open layout which means that it’s directly under the sun, but there are a lot of shaded areas to come rest at. And, you probably won’t be staying for more than two hours as there are other rides that will pique your interest.

Still, it’s a fun little side trip for a family outing. Don’t forget to pack your kids swimsuits and a change of clothes.

13. Water Playground at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa

Address: 7500 E Doubletree Ranch Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85258

Contact Number: (480) 444-1234

Ticket Rates: Starts at $45 for a day pass

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 6AM–11PM

Treat yourself to a weekend staycation at the luxurious Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa. Not only does it evoke comfort and sophistication, but it also sets the perfect backdrop for sunsets amidst the McDowell Mountains.

Their famous water playground is 2.5-acres big and features a three-story water slide atop a clock tower. It also has a white-sand beach and a Water Temple that houses 16-feet-wide hot tubs with four cold plunges.

Additionally, there’s also a water volleyball pool, dual pools, a lap pool, and a smaller, quieter pool that holds just 12 swimmers.

That’s not all. Overhead, there’s an aqueduct that passes through all six pools and at the end is the Big Gun Thunderfall which moves over 600 gallons of water per minute.

And if you’re looking to wind down after a thrilling day, there’s a three-tier Cascade Waterfall in the adults-only pool. It really is quite relaxing, if we do say so ourselves.

14. Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center

Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center

Website: https://www.chandleraz.gov/

Address: 5901 S Hillcrest Dr, Chandler, AZ 85249

Contact Number: (480) 782-2635

Ticket Rates: $2.25 for adults; $1.25 for seniors; $1 for kids

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 12PM–5PM

Another beautiful facility south of Chandler is the Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center. It’s a public and shared-use facility just in front of Basha High School.

Its most popular feature is probably the Big Blue Bucket, which is a 6-foot, 725-gallon tumble bucket. There are also two water slides, a water vortex, a water spray pad, and a winding lazy river with a bridge waterfall.

The place is family- and -kid friendly as it does have zero-depth entries on each side. And, the pool water is temperature-regulated.

For adults, there’s also a competition-sized, eight-lane pool and two diving boards.

We’re really impressed at how the city of Chandler maintains their public pools and water parks. This one is no exception – complete with new pool furniture, family dressing rooms, and lots of clean, shaded areas.

15. Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center

Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center

Website: https://www.glendaleaz.com/

Address: 5600 W Union Hills Dr, Glendale, AZ 85308

Contact Number: (623) 930-4600

Ticket Rates: Starts at $35 for resident memberships

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 5:30AM–7:30PM; Saturday to Sunday, CLOSED

Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center features a full-service aquatics park. It’s only open during summers, but it sure is a fun place to escape from the heat.

Among the water park’s amenities are two large slides, a kiddie slide, spray pads, a water playground, a lazy river, and a diving well. There are also zero-depth entries all around for the safety of children.

And if that’s not enough, there are also six lap lanes and diving boards that vary in height.

What we like about this facility is that you can rent it out and hold your own private pool and pool patio parties. How fun would that be on hot summer days, right?

Take note, though, that you need to be a Glendale resident and a member. Or, you could have a member authorize you as their guest for the day.

16. Rose Lane Aquatics Center

Rose Lane Aquatics Center

Website: https://www.glendaleaz.com/

Address: 5003 W Marlette Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301

Contact Number: (623) 930-2820

Ticket Rates: $6 for non-resident adults; $3.50 for non-resident kids

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 1PM–5PM; Saturday to Sunday, CLOSED

Another seasonal facility and community center that we love is Rose Lane Aquatics Center. Also found in the city of Glendale, this water park offers many activities such as swim lessons and public recreation swimming.

The entire pool is relatively big and comes with a diving well and a diving board. There’s also a leisure pool with a splash pad, a giant slide, and a kiddie slide.

During those hot summer months, the place is thriving with energy. You’ll often find kids of all ages and the lifeguards on-standby are very much attentive.

You can also rent out the entire pool for private parties. We’ve heard that many fun birthdays and special events have been celebrated here.

And while it may not have as many attractions as other similar facilities, we like how the place doesn’t get too crowded. The amenities are also obviously well-maintained, sturdy, and regularly upgraded.

Just note that snacks and food aren’t allowed inside. If you plan on eating out, they do allow re-entry.

We’d also like to mention a few other fun things to do at the park – a lighted ball field, a lighted basketball court, two volleyball courts, four racquetball courts, and several picnic grounds.

17. JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa

JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa

Contact Number: (480) 293-5000

Ticket Rates: Starts at $65 for adults and kids

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 8AM–10PM

They don’t market themselves to be a water park, but the luxury pools at JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa provide the same thrilling experiences as one does.

We love this award-winning resort because of how laidback and casual the vibe is. It’s definitely an expensive treat, but one that we think is worth the splurge anyway.

Here, they have the Mesa Pool, Wildfire Pool, Lazy River Pool, the Revive Spa Pool, an adult lap pool. Each one is temperature-regulated and kept cool for those sweltering summer days.

There are different features to every pool. Guests can enjoy two whirlpools, a long and winding lazy river, serpentine water slides, and there’s even a kids’ splash pad.

It really is a family-friendly resort as there are several water activities to choose from. And if you’ve explored all the pools, there’s also a fitness center, a tennis court, and pickleball courts to visit.

18. The Tower Pool Park at Wigwam Arizona

Website: https://www.wigwamarizona.com/

Address: 300 E Wigwam Blvd, Litchfield Park, AZ 85340

Contact Number: (669) 766-894

Ticket Rates: Starts at $35 for adults; Starts at $14 for kids

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 6AM–11PM

A quaint water park conveniently located at the heart of the city is the Tower Pool Park at Wigwam Arizona. There aren’t as many attractions here, but it’s still among our top picks because of the privacy and luxury that guests can enjoy.

The Tower Pool features just a tall, dual slide, splash pads, water fountains, and a kiddie pool. However, we find it to be a secluded sanctuary that’s super refreshing, especially when you’re looking for a cool place to unwind.

If you want to relax somewhere quieter after, their Oasis Pool is a must-visit. It’s a stunning adults-only enclave pool that’s lined with palm trees and provides a scenic view of the sunset.

We just love how diverse this resort is. You can come here for a family weekend, or you can take a special someone and enjoy a romantic getaway.

19. Sonoran Splash at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

Contact Number: (480) 585-4848

Ticket Rates: Starts at $39 for adults; Starts at $21 for kids

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 10AM–7PM

Another relatively small but private water park is the Sonoran Splash at the Fairmont Princess Scottsdale.

Here, the main features are 200-feet twisting water slides and little waterfalls. The pool is located in a family-friendly area where there are private cabanas you can rent.

While there’s virtually little water activities, the unique thing is that you get the feel of being at a beach. The pools are surrounded by soft, white sand, swaying palm trees, and sandboxes all around for the young ones to enjoy.

A day pass would also give you access to other pools in the resort, including ones that are exclusive for adults. If you need a break, we think the kids-free zones would leave you truly refreshed and rejuvenated.

20. The Kids Zone at The Phoenician

Sonoran Splash at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

Website: https://www.thephoenician.com/

Address: 6000 E Camelback Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251

Contact Number: (480) 941-8200

Ticket Rates: Access is for guests only

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 10AM–7PM

How does multi-tiered pools of full-on aquatic recreation sound? At the Phoenician, there’s a bunch of water fun that both kids and adults will enjoy.

We’d like to highlight The Kids Zone, however, as it’s one that we think children of all ages will really love.

The Kids Zone showcases a large tree house that has a lot of fun activities. These include a swaying bridge, sails and helms, splash pads, spray toys, shooting water spouts, and several falling buckets of water.

There’s also a 197-foot tall twisting water slide. And, the place is surrounded by lifeguards, which we really appreciate.

Adults, on the other hand, will probably love the tranquility of the Mother-of-Pearl pool. One can sit back, relax, and enjoy a view of Camelback Mountain here.

So, even though only staying guests are allowed at the pools, we really think it’s worth the weekend treat.
