The Arizona Athletic Grounds (AAG) is one of North America’s largest youth sports and entertainment facilities. This 320-acre complex was designed to host athletic events, making it a premier destination for youth sports. 

The facility includes numerous sports fields and courts, catering to various activities such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, and more. AAG aims to provide an unmatched experience for young athletes, fostering competitive play and recreational opportunities.

Originally opened as Bell Bank Park in January 2022, the facility changed its name to Legacy Park shortly after that before finally being rebranded as Arizona Athletic Grounds in March 2024. 

AAG features diverse sports facilities, including 35 soccer and lacrosse fields, 57 indoor volleyball courts, 20 basketball courts, and multiple baseball and softball fields. It also boasts specialized pickleball, futsal, beach volleyball, and gymnastics areas. 

The complex is equipped with state-of-the-art amenities such as high-tech scoreboards, cooling systems for artificial turf, and performance centers dedicated to athlete training. 

It also serves as a community gathering space. Events such as the Lori Piestewa Native American Games and the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend National Girls Flag Football Tournament highlight the facility’s role in promoting youth sports and cultural events.

Spring is a great time to visit Arizona Athletic Grounds. This is an excellent time for outdoor activities like hiking, picnicking, and sports events. 

Summer can be hot in Arizona, with temperatures often exceeding 100°F. However, summer is popular for events, concerts, and sports tournaments at the grounds.

Fall brings cooler temperatures, making it a pleasant time to visit Arizona Athletic Grounds. This is a great time for outdoor activities and enjoying the beautiful fall foliage in the surrounding areas.

How to Get to Arizona Athletic Grounds

The Cat Cruiser is a convenient bus service from Phoenix to Arizona Athletic Grounds during home football games. You can reserve your seats in advance for just $20 per person round trip. 

The bus departs approximately two hours before the game and returns 30 minutes after the game ends. This option eliminates the hassle of driving and parking, making it ideal for fans traveling from the Valley.

The Sun Link Streetcar is an efficient way to the grounds, especially if you’re coming from downtown Tucson. You can park in one of the nearby garages and purchase a $4-day pass for unlimited rides. 

The Cherry/Warren stop is the closest to the stadium, and the ride takes about 15-20 minutes. Streetcars run every 10 minutes during peak hours, making it a reliable option for game days.

On game days, the University of Arizona offers Cat Tran shuttle services from the Park Avenue Garage to the Arizona Athletic Grounds. The shuttle operates two hours before kickoff and runs until one hour after the game. 

Parking at the garage costs $5 per vehicle, but it’s free for carpools of four or more. This service is ADA-compliant and provides a comfortable ride to the stadium.

Gold Canyon Golf Resort & Spa is a gem in the stunning Superstition Mountains. We were captivated by its serene desert ambiance and the resort’s impeccable attention to detail.
