We looked into the credentials of the practitioners carefully to ensure we only feature the best practitioners in neurology.
Accessibility
We included in this list clinics that are easily reachable and accessible at all times. We looked into their booking system, operating hours, and overall responsiveness to any queries or concerns to gauge their accessibility.
Professionalism
Aside from the excellence of the practitioners, we also made sure that they conduct their treatments with utmost professionalism, friendliness, and helpfulness.

Pros
- Board-certified neurologist with a subspecialty in treating headaches
- Very empathetic
- Most of the testing can be done in-house
- Wide range of services
Cons
- Expensive
- Closed on weekends
Dr. Hetrick opened his own practice, Foothills Neurology in 1998. Since then, he has built a name for himself as a Board-certified neurologist with a subspecialty in treating headaches here in Phoenix.
Dr. Hetrick has extensive experience, getting his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences and serving in the U.S. Army as part of the medical corps. He is beyond qualified and competent at what he does, based on what we’ve seen.
He then started his training in neurology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, completed residency at Medical College of Virginia, and specialized in headache and facial pain at Barrow Neurological Institute.
What we like about Dr. Hetrick is how empathetic he is. He will really listen to your case and answer your questions as he accurately diagnoses and treats your neurological concerns.
He really helps you feel more at ease and comfortable, which is a huge factor since consulting with a neurologist can be intimidating at first.
Foothills Neurology also offers the latest diagnostic procedures and treatment, based on what we’ve seen at their clinic. Most of the testing can be done in-house so everything you need is in one place.
They offer a wide range of services including the following:
- Nerve Conduction Studies (NSC)
- Electromyography (EMG)
- Electroencephalography (EEG)
- Humphrey Visual Field
- VNG (videonystagmogram)
- Autonomic Testing
- Trigger Point Injection
- Carpal Tunnel Injection
- Botox© Injection
- PENS/TENS
- Peripheral Nerve Blocks
However, their stellar services do come at a hefty price. So if you’re on a tight budget, it might be best to check out the other doctors and clinics on our list.
We also find their online scheduling system to be a bit outdated. We find it to be better to give them a call instead to set an appointment.

Dr. Barry A. Hendin is a Board-certified neurologist with over 45 years of experience. He also has a special clinical interest in Multiple Sclerosis in particular.
We were very impressed by his credentials knowing that he has served as Chief of Neurology at Wright-Patterson AFB for around two years and as Chief of Neurology for 35 years for Good Samaritan Hospital.
True to his special clinical interest, he also served as Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic at Banner University Medical Center.
He is a widely-recognized and multi-awarded practitioner. He was even named as Health Professional of the Year by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) in the Arizona chapter in 2007 and 2009.

If you have Multiple Sclerosis, Dr. Hendin has a fantastic and organized approach to your treatment. He has been treating MS since 1974 so he has seen all the developments in the field and can give you holistic and advanced treatment.
Center for Neurology and Spine also deserves a spot on our list as a clinic. They have a wide range of services and other doctors specializing in neurology and neuropsychology.
They have emergency services should you need their assistance outside of business hours. They’re also very easy to reach in our experience.
They even have an application you can download to keep track of your appointments. Do know that they charge no-show fees, so make sure to get to your appointment on time.
We also noticed that they don’t have a lot of information on their website. For further questions, you can give them a call directly or go to their clinic.

Dr. Knievel got her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. She then finished her residency in neurology and completed her neuromuscular fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute.
Aside from her excellent credentials, what we like about Dr. Knievel is how efficient and effective she is. She’s compassionate and really answers all your questions, making you feel more at ease.
Dr. Knievel is very thorough, hands on, and professional. We’re not the only ones who think so.
After doing a poll on her previous patients, a lot of them praise her for her empathy, reliability, and driven attitude when it comes to treatment.
Barrow Neurological Institute is also a great clinic, with a lot of information on their website and different doctors to choose from depending on your needs. There are even options to get a second opinion and join a clinical trial.
However, we did notice that they don’t have an online booking form. Their online patient portal is a bit wonky, from our experience as well.
You might have to give them a call to make an appointment. There are also some reports that say it’s hard to set an appointment here, so that’s something to consider with this clinic.

Based on our experience, it wasn’t hard to see why. Dr. Saperstein is very involved and hands-on from diagnosis to treatment.
He has over two decades of experience and treated over 2000 patients with EDS, POTS, and related conditions so he has extensive experience. Aside from his experience, one of the things we like most about Dr. Saperstein is his empathetic and thorough care.
You really feel like you’re being given the attention you deserve. He’s very professional, helpful, and responsive to all queries and concerns.
Aside from Dr. Saperstein, the whole staff is also very receptive, thorough, and friendly. They really have an environment that helps you feel at ease.

- POTS & Dysautonomia
- EDS
- ALS
- CIDP/GBS
- Neuropathy
- Muscular Dystrophy

- Myasthenia Gravis
The clinic has on-site testing for your accurate diagnosis. They use the latest technology such as Nerve Conduction Studies/Electromyography (EMG), Single Fiber EMG, biopsies, Autonomic Testing, and Electroencephalography (EEG), among others.
They also provide telemedicine services in case you can’t go to the clinic yourself, which we think is a convenient option.
We noticed, however, that Dr. Saperstein is the only doctor in this clinic. So if you’re looking for a wide range of doctors, it might be best to check out the other clinics on our list.
They also don’t have a reliable patient portal or booking form online, so it would be better to just contact them through their hotline or go to their office directly to set up an appointment.

They have a reliable patient portal available where you can keep track of appointments. Aside from neurological care, they also offer great orthopedic care.
