The Top 5 Optometrists in Phoenix
How We Chose the Best Places Optometrists in Phoenix
Credentials
Here, we took into account the optometrists’ licenses, credentials, and years of experience. Any recognitions or awards they had were a bonus, too.
Eyewear Selection
We also looked into how extensive their eyewear collections were. We understand how selective people can be with the style of their glasses or contact lenses, as it’s something they’ll wear most of the time.
Availability
It was also imperative for us to consider the ease of appointment setting with these offices. This is because we know that sometimes, patients need urgent eyewear replacements or consultations.
Customer Service
It’s always a pleasure to be shown good customer service. Aside from the optometrist, we took into account how helpful and attentive the staff members were.

Pros
- Uses advanced and hi-tech equipment
- Caters to almost all areas of eye care
- Good selection of eyewear frames
Cons
- Frames are on the expensive side
- Relatively more expensive service fees
Valley Eyecare Center is a prime optometry practice. They come highly-recommended across the city because of top-notch customer service.
For starters, they stay updated with all the latest innovations in the optometry field. This is evident in their use of advanced and hi-tech equipment in all their services.
Speaking of their services, they have an impressive roster of specializations in almost every area of eye care. They have a well-rounded group of eye doctors who are all certified to provide the best vision solutions for their patients.
Among them is Dr. Eric Clyde, who has been with the practice since 2009. He’s an active member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Arizona Optometric Association (AZOA).
His patients love working with him because of his kind and warm personality. From what we’ve heard, he also has an excellent sense of humor and is always attentive to his patients’ concerns.
Apparently, he’s also the kind of doctor who remembers his patients, even after not seeing them for long periods of time. We always think it’s nice when doctors get to know people individually, instead of looking at them as just another patient.
They have a good selection of frames, too, and are helpful in ordering certain styles in case you couldn’t choose one from what they currently have. Note, though, that they can be quite expensive.

Pros
- Provides a full-range of services and treatments
- Optometrist has been in practice for nearly 30 years
- Extensive selection of eyewear frames
- Allows same-day appointments and attends to emergency cases
Cons
- Hidden charges on contact lens fittings
- Closed on weekends
Another highly-recommended private practice is Northern Avenue Eye Care. They offer a full-range of services and treatments to provide optimum care for their patients.
Dr. Robert Clanton is the brains and muscle of the place. He’s been practicing optometry for nearly 30 years now, so there’s a certain level of assurance that you’re in capable hands.
Dr. Clanton provides quality eye care for both children and adults. He also has extensive experience treating pre and post-op cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eyes, and red-eye emergencies.
From what we’ve heard, he’s a gentle and patient worker who takes his time explaining cases in a way that can easily be understood. He makes sure that every patient is comfortable and at ease with the treatment course.
We also love that they have an extensive selection of frames to choose from. And, these are available for a wide variety of budgets as well.
However, it seems that they’re not as upfront regarding the pricing of contact lenses. There’s an additional fee just for the fitting that surprises some of their patients upon seeing the final billing.
Setting up appointments with them is quick and easy, too. And in some instances, they allow same-day appointments along with emergency cases.

Pros
- A multidisciplinary, state-of-the-art optometric practice
- Accepts emergency eye care cases
- Offers flexible payment options
- Optometrist is great at working with kids
Cons
- Limited selection of frames, particularly for children and men
- Closed on weekends
Advanced Vision and Achievement Center is a multidisciplinary optometry practice. From infants to geriatrics, they provide a full-range of services that help improve eyesight.
What we love about their clinic is how modern and advanced it is. They have a state-of-the-art facility that allows them to treat even the most specialized cases such as non-surgical Ortho-K corneal reshaping and color insufficiency-correcting lenses.
They also accept emergency cases should you need urgent eye care.
Another thing we like about their practice is how they offer flexibility in their payment options. And, they accept most plans from a long list of insurance providers.
Dr. Mary Hardy is one of their optometrists. It seems that patients love her professionalism and dedication to providing the best eye care possible.
She’s also very informative and doesn’t rush patient appointments. Apparently, she makes sure that her patients understand their condition so they can take maintenance and preventive measures.
We even heard that she makes eye exams fun for her younger patients. It seems that she’s great at working with children and has a soft spot for them.
We only wish that they had a wider selection of eyewear styles. Their selection is quite limited, especially the frames for kids and men.

Cons
- Long waiting time for appointments

Arizona’s Vision Eye Care Center is a locally-owned and -operated clinic for over 25 years. Since inception, they have treated and helped more than 50,000 patients across the valley.
The facility is the brainchild of Dr. Mark Page, who opened the clinic after a different one was unable to save one of his father’s eyes. Thankfully, his dad is now more than 90 years old and still has 20/20 vision in his good eye.
Dr. Page values family a lot, which is why most of his staff are his family members. And, it’s important to him to make his services affordable to everyone, which is why they offer interest-free, in-office financing.
His story and mission has caught the eye of several media outlets. On television, he’s been featured multiple times on ABC 15, Fox 10, and New Channel 7.
Dr. Page is also known to be warm, welcoming, and very caring towards his patients. He stays on top of their cases and is always checking in to make sure that treatments are going well.
Another thing we’d like to mention is that they offer an extensive selection of frames in various styles and budgets. Seriously, they have walls and walls of frames and sunglasses to choose from.
If you plan on visiting, make sure to call at least a week in advance as they do get booked up often.

Cons
- Relatively expensive service rates and frames
- Closed on weekends
Moon Valley Eyecare provides a quick and efficient experience for people with visual needs. Their staff members are easy to talk to, helpful, and quick to attend to patient needs.
They offer an extensive list of optometric services and good-quality eye care products. And if they don’t carry what you need, they’ll go out of their way to locate it for you.
Their office is newly-renovated and has been designed in such a way that’s comfortable and pleasing to patients.
We also appreciate that there’s barely any wait once you come to an appointment. It seems that the staff are super organized and respectful of people’s times.
Dr. Jesse Dominguez is their resident optometrist. He has a wide scope of specializations in Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Specialty Contacts, and Medical Eye Disease.
Dr. Dominguez is also fluent in Spanish, and every member of his staff is bilingual. He feels strongly about being able to connect with people, wherever they may be from.
He is known to be warm, friendly, and attentive. Despite his busy schedule, patients often say that it seems like Dr. Dominguez has all the time in the world because he never rushes an appointment.
We also heard that he’s very considerate. If a patient shows up with no insurance, he makes sure to do only what’s necessary and avoids amping up the bill even further.
All things considered, we think he’s a solid choice if you ever need an optometrist.
