Top 5 Podiatrists in Phoenix

Top 5 Podiatrists in Phoenix

How We Chose the Best Podiatrists in Phoenix

Expertise

When it comes to medical issues, it’s always best to go for licensed and board-certified professionals. We considered these podiatrists’ years of experience, as well as any awards or recognitions they had.

Specialization

Most podiatrists are known to specialize in certain treatments. We considered these as we think it’ll be helpful for patients with specific conditions.

Payment Options

For practicality reasons, we looked into the flexibility of payment options, as well as insurance coverages of these clinics.

Customer Service

We always find that good customer service elevates a patient’s trust and experience. This is why we took into account their responsiveness and availability, as well as staff attitude.

Pros

  • Board-certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery and Rearfoot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery
  • Has been named a Top Doctor by Phoenix Magazine for 16 years
  • Specializes in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, trauma, and sports injuries.
  • Comprehensive and personalized treatments for a wide variety of foot and ankle problems

Cons

  • Services are relatively more expensive
  • Can be slow to respond to clients regarding lab results and follow-ups

Starting off strong, Dr. J. Timothy Harlan has quite an impressive resume. In 1996, he founded Phoenix Foot & Ankle and continues to be its Medical Director to this day.

He is board-certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery, as well as in Rearfoot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery.

He has been named a Top Doctor by Phoenix Magazine for 16 years and has been recognized as America’s Top Podiatrist by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.

A little fun fact about him: he played inter-collegiate football while he was in University of San Diego (where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology).

He’s passionate about sports, which is probably why he chose to specialize in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, trauma, and sports injuries.

For someone so accomplished, he’s incredibly down-to-earth. His clients seem to love his direct but compassionate attitude that makes them feel confident and in good hands.

Even more impressive is how his clinic provides comprehensive and personalized treatments for an extensive list of foot and ankle problems.

Consider them a one-stop-shop for any conditions you may have in those areas. We’d like to point out, though, that their services are relatively more expensive.

We also wish that they’d work on their customer service. From what we’ve heard, they take a long time (sometimes up to a week) to get back to patients regarding lab results and follow ups.

Pros

  • Has been practicing privately in the valley since 2003
  • Board-qualified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery
  • Stays updated on the latest developments in the field by maintaining memberships in several related organizations

Cons

  • Premium service fee
  • Reports of some staff members being dismissive and not accommodating to phone inquiries

Since 2003, Dr. Ryan Golub has been addressing foot health around the valley in his premier and private podiatry practice, Arizona Foot Health.

He is a doctor of podiatric medicine and is board-qualified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He treats a wide scope of issues – from routine bunions to the most complex heel and foot pain issues.

We like that he stays on top of all the latest developments in his field. He does this by maintaining memberships at the American Podiatric Medical Association, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and more.

It appears that Dr. Golub is known for being warm and welcoming. A common thing his patients say is that he doesn’t make them feel as though they’re “just another patient” – which we think says a lot about his character.

Apparently, he’s very patient when it comes to explaining all the possible treatment options and outcomes. On top of that, he answers all questions in great detail without rushing the appointments.

It’s likely that for these reasons, patients are willing to spend a bit more premium. His services do not come cheap, which can be expected from a private practice.

There have also been reports of not-so-pleasing staff members answering phone calls. A few patients have said that they didn’t feel accommodated and were dismissed on other occasions.

We really hope they address this, as it really hurts their reputation in customer service.

Pros

  • Board-certified foot and ankle surgeon
  • Specializes in Advanced Foot and Ankle Reconstruction
  • Well-known in the field as a national speaker, peer educator, and publisher

Cons

  • Rates are on the pricier side
  • Has a long list of clients, so expect to wait a bit before being accommodated

If you need foot and ankle care, you’ll be in good and capable hands with Dr. Jeffrey McAlister of Phoenix Foot and Ankle Institute.

He is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon who specializes in Advanced Foot and Ankle Reconstruction. He also completed a unique 12-month surgical fellowship at the prestigious Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Ohio.

He keeps himself pretty busy. Apart from his clinic, he is also a national speaker, a peer educator, and a regular publisher of foot and ankle research and education.

It seems like he manages his time well, as his patients love his efficiency and promptness in every appointment. He also has a calm and friendly demeanor that instantly makes patients feel at ease.

He’s a top-rated surgeon not just for his skill, but his attitude as well. Bedside manners always matter in our book, so we give him props for that.

The same compliments can be said about his staff. Apparently, from check-in to check-out, his staff members are professional and happy to assist patients.

For premium service, expect to pay a premium price as well. Although, we do think that money is well-spent when it comes to them.

Because he comes highly-recommended, also expect to wait quite a bit to be accommodated as he has a long list of clients.

Pros

  • Has over 15 years of experience in surgery and medicine
  • Known for excellent bedside manner
  • Treats a wide scope of foot and ankle conditions

Cons

  • Relatively less connections with insurance providers
  • Reports of hidden fees and additional charges in final billing

Dr. C. Jon Beecroft has over 15 years of experience in surgery and medicine. He’s adept at treating orthopedic, dermatological, diabetic, trauma, reconstruction, and any medical issues concerning the foot and ankle.

Though, what he’s best known for is his excellent bedside manner. Patients love how kind and genuine he is when it comes to understanding their pain.

Consultations with him start out like most, with x-rays and lots of questions. Afterwards, he will discuss all the possible treatments and allow his patients to decide.

He is careful not to be pushy and extends compassion in what the patient needs.

We think these are all good traits to find in a doctor, as it makes patients feel heard and respected.

Unfortunately, they don’t offer payment plans for surgical procedures. And while they’re in-network with most commercial plans, it seems that they’re not as connected with other insurance providers.

It’s best to check with them if they can accommodate your provider prior to scheduling an appointment.

We’ve also heard some reports about billing mishaps. It seems that the final bill turns out significantly higher than what was initially discussed.

Apparently, there are quite a few hidden charges. So, just be aware of that and make sure to thoroughly discuss your billing with their staff to avoid any misunderstandings.

Pros

  • Podiatry specialist who practices integrative medicine
  • Specializes in diabetic foot and wound care
  • State-of-the-art practice with highly-trained medical staff

Cons

  • Relatively shorter list of covered insurance providers
  • Standard care provided; nothing unique or incredibly different

Foot + Ankle Specialty Centers is a state-of-the-art practice with experienced and highly-trained medical staff.

Such is the case for Dr. Amelia Harris, a podiatry specialist who practices integrative medicine with special expertise in diabetic foot and wound care.

She is an Arizona native with a background in science, fine arts, and athletics – the last of which led to her career as a foot and ankle specialist.

What patients love about her is her sincerity to help. We’ve heard of cases where she would suggest cheaper alternatives that work just as well for a patient’s recovery.

She is also apparently very friendly and chatty in the nicest way. Apparently, she has a way of making patients feel comfortable and understood.

While there’s nothing new or incredibly different about the way she treats patients, it’s her personality and work demeanor that shine through.

The same could be said for the clinic itself, as we’ve heard that the staff are all welcoming and give off a nice vibe. They’re also attentive to patient concerns and helpful with inquiries.

While the clinic accepts several insurance providers, the list is relatively shorter than others. Make sure to check with them if yours is covered.
