When it comes to oral surgery, Dr. Caesar Butura comes highly-recommended – for excellent reasons.
First off, he is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Over 22 years of experience has shaped him to be one of America’s Top Dentists in the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by the American Council on Excellence.
Patients will be pleased to know that he manages a wide variety of mouth- and facial-related problems. He practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise on dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal.
That being said, he’s known for practicing techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with very little surgical intervention; and maximum patient comfort.
This tells us that he’s not just an expert in his field, but he’s also great at prioritizing patient care. We give him major props for that.
We’re even more impressed to learn that he has a reputation for having excellent bedside manners. It seems that patients love his friendly and warm demeanor which instantly puts them at ease.
We also hear that his office staff are courteous and helpful. We love that their modern, sleek clinic is made inviting and not intimidating because of them.
Even though his rates are on the pricier side, we think he’s worth the investment. Just make sure to check with billing, as we’ve heard some reports of hidden fees and extra charges.

Pros
- Board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
- Known to provide VIP treatment to all patients
- Wide scope of expertise and specializations
- Has been around for over 30 years
Cons
- Reports of some staff members needing better training in customer service
- Hidden fees and extra charges ramp up the final cost of services
What we love about Phoenix Oral & Facial Surgery is the premium treatment they give patients. Here, customer service has gone above and beyond for over 30 years.
They’re known to provide VIP concierge experience for every patient. And at the helm of this clinic is Dr. Alexander Kim.
Dr. Kim is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He’s also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
His experience is extensive when it comes to the complex management of cleft and craniofacial deformities, facial trauma, implants, reconstruction, and corrective face and jaw surgery.
On top of all those, he has a special interest in minimally-invasive cosmetic surgery.
We love how his patients refer to him as affable and incredibly down-to-earth. It’s not easy to find a dentist you love, even more difficult is to find one with his kind of expertise to boot.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for his staff – at least for those in the reception. We’ve heard reports of them being dismissive and downright disrespectful.
It also appears that there are extra charges on the final bill. Apparently, the total cost ends up significantly higher than the quotation.
We do hope they address these complaints. But if you can get past these issues, we still think they’re a solid choice if you ever need their services.

Pros
- Board-certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology
- Named a Top Dentist by Phoenix Magazine for eight consecutive years
- Specializes in a wide range of procedures
Cons
- Reports of instances when staff isn’t as helpful in insurance claims
- Premium pricing for their services
Oral & Facial Surgeons of Arizona is a state-of-the-art surgical center that provides patients a full range of oral and maxillofacial surgery services.
One of its partners is Dr. J. Gregory Sabol. He is board-certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
He moved to Phoenix in 2006. Prior to that, he graduated Magna Cum Laude and received both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) degrees from Ohio State University.
We’d also like to point out that he’s been named a Top Dentist by Phoenix Magazine for eight consecutive years, so kudos to him!
While he’s adept at all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, he has special interests in dental implant placement, corrective skeletal jaw surgery, and wisdom tooth removal.
He’s also skilled in helping patients with cosmetic eye procedures, maxillofacial trauma, and surgery for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.
From what we’ve heard, he has a kind demeanor that allows patients to feel comfortable. Apparently, patient ease is a big thing for him as he understands how scary and painful oral surgery can be.
Note, though, that there have been instances where patients didn’t find them as helpful in insurance claims.
But if you have a flexible budget and a good insurance provider, we think you’d be in good hands with them.

Pros
- Holds a rare distinction of being both an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Prosthodontist
- Accepts a wide list of insurance providers
- Offers financing options
Cons
- Closed on weekends
What we love most about Precision Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is their dedication to patient care. Whether it’s a small or a complex surgery, their philosophy is to treat patients the way they’d want to be treated.
The founder, Dr. Joseph Pierse, makes sure that this is a guiding principle for every member of his team.
His emphasis on patient care is reflected by the glowing reviews their clinic has. It seems that their team is a cheerful bunch that patients find to be a delight to work with.
We also appreciate that they accept a wide list of insurance providers. And if not covered, patients are offered several helpful financing options.
So even though they have relatively more expensive rates, the financial load on patients isn’t as heavy.
Dr. Pierse is also said to be knowledgeable and extremely professional. In fact, his background is equally impressive and diverse.
He holds a rare distinction of being both an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Prosthodontist – one of the few practitioners in the US with this privilege.
Not only does this equip him with demonstrated expertise in treating the oral cavity, this also gives him unique insight in surgical patients with restorative or reconstructive needs.
An area they could probably improve upon is their scheduling programs. It seems that there have been instances of double-bookings and conflicts.
Even though it’s a minor issue, we still think it’s much of a hassle for patients. Make sure to double-check your appointment prior to coming in.

Pros
- Board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology
- Voted a ‘Top Dentist’ by fellow dental professionals in Phoenix Magazine
- Makes use of cutting-edge technology in their facility
Cons
- Expect a longer waiting time when scheduling an appointment
- Few reports of mishaps in insurance billings
There’s something to be said about facilities that put the customer’s best interests first. And such is the case for North Valley Center for Oral and Implant Surgery.
Here, they strive to provide excellent oral care and customer satisfaction. And from what we’ve heard, they’ve done a great job so far.
Their founder, Dr. Donal Johnson, is widely-recognized and respected within the community. He has been voted as a Top Dentist by fellow dental professionals in Phoenix Magazine for several years.
He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tufts University and has been in private practice since 2002. Additionally, he’s board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
What we love about him is his friendly and calm demeanor. His patients often say that he makes them feel as though they’re in good, capable hands.
When it comes to their procedures, they provide a wide range of oral and maxillofacial surgery services – from minor to more complex ones.
They also utilize cutting-edge technology in their facility. A good example is the X-Guide Navigated Implant and Cone Beam 3D System which enables accurate imaging, mapping, and treatment.
If you do book an appointment with them, make sure to call early as we’ve heard there can be a long waiting time (sometimes up to a week).
There have also been a few reports of insurance billing mishaps, so just take note of that when availing their services.
