Top 5 Clinics for Wisdom Tooth Removal in Phoenix
How we picked
Qualifications
The oral surgeons must have the training and experience in performing wisdom tooth removal. We also looked for certifications and memberships to reputable organizations to assess their standard of services.
Availability
We assessed the convenience of setting up an appointment with the clinic and their capacity to stay on schedule to accommodate all patients.
Facilities
A well-established practice must maintain the cleanliness of its rooms and sanitation of its tools up to standards. Similarly, they should have appropriate and updated equipment at their disposal.
Bedside Manner
Through previous experiences, we evaluated the oral surgeons and staff for ease of communication at any point of the process.
Payment Options
To ease things financially, we checked if the clinic offers payment plans and accepts insurance for those with coverage.

Pros
- Over 25 years in practice
- Comprises of board-certified oral surgeons
- Accepts major insurance care providers
- Quick and painless procedures
Cons
- Few complaints on rude front office staff
- Some reports on billing and insurance troubles
Valley Endodontics & Oral Surgery has become one of the most reliable dental practices in the valley. They specialize in endodontics and oral surgery, offering comprehensive services which include wisdom tooth removal.
Established in 1996, the practice has expanded to nine locations, with two more in Tucson. Dr. Steven Hymovitch, the founder and CEO, holds multiple designations and certifications, which is nothing short of impressive.
Among these are a Master’s in Business Administration and a Doctor of Dental Surgery among others, which diversifies his approach to running the practice. He’s also a certified executive coach and trains other professionals in the industry.
When it comes to first impressions, they’re very accommodating with patients and even schedule procedures on the same day as the consultation. We heard the attending surgeon, Dr. Griffith, is a pleasant fellow and is excellent at putting patients at ease.
It seems they’re also great with preventive care and early diagnosis by predicting potential complications. This is great for younger patients, especially since extracting wisdom teeth becomes more tricky, not to mention painful, with age.
Like their patients, we appreciate how they explain processes in a way that’s easy to understand. They also take the time in exploring payment options to maximize the path that would most be beneficial to you, which is thoughtful.
However, there were a few complaints of the front office staff coming off as short and rude. Some have also encountered billing mistakes involving insurance coverage, which led to patients paying out of pocket instead.
Still, we don’t count this against the clinic since the issues should be resolved with the insurance provider. We only wish the administration staff in charge of billing would be more thorough with checking insurance eligibility.

Visiting the dentist is associated with anxiety and discomfort for most people, which is something the members of Oral & Facial Surgeons of Arizona understand.
Because of this, they strive to give a sense of calm and comfort through quick and painless procedures – which their patients swear by. We heard that this transcends through all aspects of their clinic from the front office to the nurses.
The clinic was formed in 2007 by a duo of board-certified oral surgeons Michael W. Golding and J. Gregory Sabol.
Sabol got his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree as Manga Cum Laude at The Ohio State University. He was also named a Top Dentist by Phoenix Magazine eight years in a row, which is impressive.
On the other hand, Golding finished at the top of his class with a DDS degree from the University of Maryland Dental School. He is trained to perform all types of maxillofacial and oral surgeries with a special focus on wisdom tooth removal.
This comes highly recommended by past patients and is reportedly done as efficiently as possible with advanced techniques. Among these is the Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) technique which speeds up the healing process.
They’re also wonderful with patients in terms of follow-up care, providing all the info for post-surgery treatment. We’ve heard patients who got to work the next day with only the slightest pain and without any complications.
A few have slipped through the cracks when setting an appointment, though. There were occasional complaints about delayed procedures that lasted weeks, which they’re willing to make up for from what we’ve seen.
Get your finances ready, since prices tend to hike up given their standard of care. Still, they’re apparently ready to ease the burden through several payment plans and financing with CareCredit, which is assuring.

Pros
- Association members of multiple organizations
- 30+ years in practice
- Comprises of seasoned experts in the field
- Regularly participates in charitable events
- Convenient financing options
Cons
- Few reports on long waiting times
- Complaints on rude and unhelpful front desk
Serving hundreds of patients each year, Southwest Oral Surgery is arguably the most popular maxillofacial and oral surgery practice in Metro Phoenix.
For one, the clinic has grown consistently and has received a handful of Top Oral Surgeons awards throughout the years. They’re also active members of multiple organizations such as the ADA and IAOMS.
Owned previously by Dr. Michael Mansfield under a different name in 1991, he eventually sold the clinic to Robert J. Buch in 2010. Still, both surgeons are working together in the same practice.
Together with a lineup of highly-devoted oral surgeons, they provide treatments of the highest standard such as bone grafting, facial trauma repair, and wisdom tooth removal.
Moreover, they’re also fitted with cutting-edge equipment and first-rate facilities, which further raises the bar.
Generally, patients are greeted warmly by accommodating nurses who walk them through the motions. We heard they’re receptive to phone calls and texts, even during holidays and after work hours.
Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said of the front office, whom we heard can be rude and unhelpful with providing info and processing papers. We hope they could adopt the same level of service as the other members of the staff.
The clinic could also get very busy and some have complained of long waits and even delays in the scheduled appointment.
On the bright side, we like that their surgeons are nurturing particularly with younger patients. Some have expressed that they feel included in the conversation despite their age, which is a plus.
They’re also open to adjustments and personal preferences, all in an effort to make the procedure comfortable and anxiety-free. It comes as no surprise that a lot of their patients have stayed with them for years.

Pros
- Members of reputable organizations such as ADA
- Stress-free and personalized care for all ages
- Accommodates early and late appointments
- Over 50 years in practice
- Offers discounts and accepts major insurance providers
Cons
- Small team of only two attending oral surgeons
- Few mishaps on handling insurance
As the name suggests, Devoted Family Dental Phoenix is committed to a high standard of dental care for their patients, with a special focus on preventive services. They also welcome individuals of all ages as a mom-and-pop clinic since 1999.
Husband and wife John Ludu and Rhenu Sharma both earned their DDS degrees at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Combined, they have an astonishing experience of over 50 years behind them.
What we love about them is the personalized services, whether you’re visiting for the first time or your last trip to the dentist was eons ago. We heard customers who wouldn’t mind making another visit because they take the stress out of the appointment.
Although they’re a smaller team than most, patients have spoken about the amiable and hospitable staff who are a tremendous help throughout the whole process. From the first inquiry down to aftercare, they’re apparently prompt without missing a beat.
Moreover, they’re on top of the latest dental equipment for efficient extraction. Among these is the Wand, a state-of-the-art injection that painlessly and precisely delivers local anesthesia without numbing other areas of the mouth.
If you have a busy schedule, they’re amenable to adjusting through appointments early in the morning or late at night, even on Saturdays. They also accommodate emergency appointments on the same day, which is great.
They also have special offers for patients who don’t have dental insurance. While they accept most insurance care providers, there were a few cases where it didn’t work out and the patient had to pay in full amount, which could be frustrating.
Still, a lot of families choose to be in their care for what they have to offer. We think they set the standard for a pleasant experience, especially for newcomers.

Pros
- Offers flexible payment options
- Certified by the ABOMS
- Available 24/7 for emergencies
- Full-service dental care for all ages
- Consistently helpful and friendly staff across all locations
Cons
- Only available through referrals
- Limited days of operation per week
Since opening its doors in 2011, Risas Dental and Braces has grown at an incredible rate to multiple branches across the southwest. As of late, they have 13 clinics all around the valley, each with its own specialization.
Their location near Desert Sky is where they refer patients for oral surgery, which includes wisdom tooth extraction. The procedure is performed by either Jared W. Mack or Benjamin N. Zuniga, who are both DDS degree holders.
Additionally, they’re also board-certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Mack has been an oral surgeon for the US Navy since 2013 while Zuniga has been training at Yale New Haven Hospital as a surgical resident since 2015.
From the moment patients walk in their doors, they were apparently greeted with a warm and gentle atmosphere that immediately put them at ease. We heard the procedure is quick, taking 30 to 45 minutes to finish with minimal discomfort.
We were also impressed with the spotless and attractive interiors and advanced technology. We also like that their operation rooms are completely separate, allowing more privacy.
According to their patients, processing paperwork and appointments is a breeze with their friendly and organized receptionist. You can expect short wait times and make the most out of your visit since they take time to educate you on relevant info.
This includes walking you through flexible payment options and insurance coverage. They accept most insurance providers and even offer a 20% discount if you pay in full upfront, which is a great deal.
Keep in mind though, they don’t accept walk-ins and require a referral from another Risas clinic. Appointments are also scheduled from Monday to Wednesday every week, which isn’t flexible to work around with for some.
