Thanks to their flexibility, caregivers can participate. Besides weekend sessions, they also offer in-home and telehealth options, so they can meet you when and where you are most comfortable.

This active involvement from both parties appears to be working well, according to parents who have seen significant improvement in their kids’ communication skills.

What sets Therapy Tree apart is its multidisciplinary approach. It includes speech therapy, Occupational (OT), Physical (PT), and Feeding Therapies, as well as pediatric counseling. 

That means that if your child has sensory issues alongside a speech delay, the respective therapists will coordinate to create a cohesive treatment plan. 

For speech therapy, the clinic is staffed with CCC-SLPs who specialize in areas such as articulation and fluency, as well as Sequential Sensory Oral (SOS) for feeding and swallowing issues. 

For younger children, the methods are more play-based to ensure sessions are natural and not strict. Even parents praise the upbeat, fun atmosphere of the sessions, noting that their kids look excited to attend. 

Additionally, we like that Therapy Tree is in-network with a wide range of insurance providers (Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Tricare, etc.). Although it depends on the location, it can make ongoing treatments more accessible. 

One common concern, though, is the lapses in communication. Calls are often not answered. Sudden changes, such as rescheduled appointments, aren’t communicated properly to clients.

If you would prefer a medical-grade approach to communication, Arizona Speech and Swallow Therapy is a well-sought-after clinic in the city. 

Founder Caroline and her team are nationally certified and bring impressive backgrounds from medical centers in New York and Pittsburgh. 

This practice is best for adults and seniors who are going through neurological events or living with progressive conditions like Parkinson’s Disease. Basically, they can help individuals with stuttering, voice disorders, aphasia, and more. 

They do offer pediatric services as well, but they are well distinguished for their adult rehabilitation. Not to mention, they can also provide specialized services, such as accent modification and voice therapy, for professional speakers seeking to maintain vocal health. 

Their services also extend to caregivers, providing education and training for family members to ensure safety during meals and maintain effective communication at home. 

But despite the “clinical” label, patients said the sessions don’t feel clinical. Therapists keep the programs engaging and appropriate to their daily routine, so it’s easier to apply at home.

They maintain strong pediatrician affiliations with over 25 different clinics across the Valley. This allows a faster exchange of medical records and ensures that your child’s doctor and therapist are always on the same page. 

For speech therapy, they use personalized, play-based methods that address sound development, language comprehension, and social communication. They usually pair it with developmental therapies that also consider sensory and behavioral. 

And unlike other clinics that offer only one-on-one sessions, they also offer group classes to improve children’s social skills. As a result, many parents report seeing changes in both their previously timid kids’ speech and social behavior. 

While pricing is customized, they do accept all insurance plans and offer affordable bundle packages to lower the cost per session.

One thing to consider, though, is that the team is in high demand and securing an appointment can be difficult.

Arizona Autism United was founded in 2006 and has been consistently recognized as a “Top Workplace” by The Arizona Republic and the BBB Ethics Awards. As a whole, they help patients of all ages. However, for speech therapy, they explicitly focus on children. 

SLP is a part of an interdisciplinary model that may include occupational therapy and habilitation. It’s used to address delays in expressive language, articulation, and social communication that are usually seen as part of the autism spectrum. 

We found them the most fitting option if you are looking for early intervention for signs of communication challenges. 

And we like that family participation isn’t merely encouraged or recommended by the therapists. It’s actually part of the therapy to ensure progress even outside of sessions. 

The feedback we heard from their clients is often emotional. Parents shared how their kids moved from a few-word phrases to more comprehensible sentences and also had more interactions at home. 

And as a non-profit practice, AZA aims to be as accessible as possible. They accept a wide list of funding, including private insurance and ESA Class Wallet.
