The 5 Best Tailors in Phoenix
How We Chose the Best Tailors in Phoenix
Quality of Work
We looked into the quality of work that these tailors provide their clients. Stitching, hemming, and sewing demands a keen eye for detail, after all.
Timeliness
It was important for us to consider their track records when it comes to finishing and delivering on time.
Scope of Services
We also took into account how varied their service menus are. This is because we understand that some clients need to have more than one item tailored or custom-made.
Convenience
We took the liberty of looking into how convenient it is to go to these tailors. Availability and ease of communication were our bases for this criterion.

Pros
- Has been in business since 2009
- Majority of clients are repeat ones or from referrals
- Has a good track record for timely deliveries
- Offers a good scope of services for men and womens’ clothing
- Can accommodate rush jobs
Cons
- Could work on having a better order organization system
- Closed on Sundays
Since 2009, The Fit Alterations and Custom Designs has been a local go-to tailor. They have a reputation for being reliable and professional – which is probably why most of the people coming here are referrals or repeat clients.
They do nearly everything that involves a needle and a thread. Whether you need your curtains shortened, pants taken in, or a dress hemmed, they’ve got you.
What’s more is that they’re able to finish most of their jobs within the committed time frame. We really appreciate this, as we know how common it is in this industry to have delays in these kinds of services.
If you’re really in a rush and need same-day services, they’ll try their best to accommodate you. It’s more likely that they can, as they have a relatively big team of seamstresses and tailors.
What impresses us most, though, is the spot-on quality of work. They’re best known for clean stitching, ample measurements, and even seams for their alterations.
One thing we’d like to point out is that there are a few instances when a clients’ clothes were overlooked, and therefore, had to be rushed.
They could probably work on having a more organized system, just so they could keep better track of all the garments coming in.

Pros
- Offers a convenient mobile alteration service
- Booking an appointment is quite easy
- Owner has over 30 years of experience in designing, making, and sewing clothes
- Accommodates even super rush jobs
Cons
- Rates are relatively more expensive
- Closed on Sundays
Tailor At Your Door offers exactly what their name sounds like. They’re tailors…who are able to conveniently come to your door.
Their mobile alteration service is super helpful for those who are usually busy or don’t have the time to drop off their clothes. Simply book an appointment at their website and one of their tailors will come to pick up your garments.
Afterwards, they will call to let you know when they’ll be able to finish the alterations and drop it right back off your house. Easy peasy!
The genius behind this business is Olga Hincapié, a Colombian designer who eventually made roots in Phoenix. She has over 30 years of experience designing patterns and creating clothes out of them.
From what we’ve heard, she’s a real superwoman who does her best to come through for clients. Apparently, she’ll accommodate even the most rush jobs, especially those with upcoming weddings and special events.
It appears that she’s a sweet lady whose sincerity truly comes across. You can always tell when someone is genuine, and most of her clients seem to love how passionate she is at her job.
All the good reasons above are probably why clients don’t mind paying a premium for her services.

Pros
- An award-winning and industry-recognized tailor shop
- Specializes in men’s suits and clothing
- Utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and modern techniques
Cons
- Few reports of staff members being rude or dismissive
- Closed on Sundays
Brothers Tailors & Clothing Co. is one of the more popular options among local tailors. Since opening in 1994, they’ve received several awards and industry-recognitions for their work.
Their master tailor is Minas Zistatsis, who has more than 30 years of experience in bespoke designs and alterations. He’s best known for designing exceptional lines of men’s wear.
If you’re looking to have a suit restyled, resized, or given an extra oomph, they’re one of the best places to visit. The quality is top-notch and the fit is just outstanding.
While they specialize in men’s clothing and custom suits, they also accommodate alterations for women’s clothes.
Another thing we like about them is how they make use of state-of-the-art equipment. They have some of the most modern machines and threads, and their tailors are well-versed on all the latest altering techniques.
This enables them to be much more precise, even up to the most intricate stitches.
Unfortunately, we’ve heard of a few common complaints regarding the attitude of some of their trailers and receptionists. Apparently, there were instances when they were rude or dismissive to clients.
We do hope they take matters to address this issue, as it really hurts their image in customer service.

Pros
- Has been around since 1997
- A well-loved neighborhood tailor shop
- Has dedicated services for ethnic wear and vintage clothes
- Walk-ins are accommodated
Cons
- Service fees are relatively more expensive
- Closed on Sundays and Mondays
Arizona Alterations has been around since 1997. Over the years, they have gained a reputation for being the friendly neighborhood tailor shop.
The owner, Renee, is well-loved by her clients for her amiable and warm personality. Not only is she super approachable, but she’s also very knowledgeable in using her threads and needles.
We’ve also heard that she listens intently to her clients’ requests. All tailors should do this, but she’s extra attentive and respectful to their concerns, especially when it comes to garments that have sentimental values.
We really appreciate her kindness and sensitivity in this regard.
They’ve got a good scope of services, too. We don’t often see tailor shops that have dedicated services for ethnic wear and vintage clothing, so we give them props for that.
Their rates vary depending on the amount of work that needs to be done, so you’ll really have to come in to get the clothes assessed.
Despite having relatively more expensive rates, clients find them reasonable, considering the quality of work they put into each piece of clothing.
Appointments are not needed, but they are highly-appreciated. They’re very responsive to phone calls and emails, too, which gives them extra points in our book.

Pros
- A humble home tailor shop
- Can work on any type of fabric
- Works fast for same-day basic alterations
- Open daily
Cons
- Scope of services is limited to clothes
- Price estimated given via phone calls are often largely-inaccurate
Areti’s Alteration isn’t as popular as the other tailors on our list, but we want to give them the spotlight that they deserve.
They’re a straightforward tailor shop that specializes in altering clothes to best fit their clients. They mostly work on wedding dresses and suits, but they do accommodate general clothing fixes, too.
What we like about them is how skilled their tailors and seamstresses are. They can work on any type of fabric and are known to be perfectionists when it comes to their stitches.
Their place is a humble home office, which a lot of clients find endearing. The best part is that they’re open daily!
They’re also able to accommodate same-day services for simple alterations. Usually, they can finish basic alterations like shortening hems or zipper replacements in less than an hour.
One thing we think they could work on is providing accurate quotations over the phone. A few of their clients were surprised when the service fees nearly doubled upon arriving at the shop.
We understand that it’s difficult to make estimates over a phone call, but we still think they can manage expectations better. Some tailors ask clients to email photos of the garments, which we think they could adopt.
