Top 5 Skydiving Facilities in Phoenix

How We Chose the Best Skydiving Facilities in Phoenix

Qualifications

It was only natural for us to look into the licenses, certifications, and years of experience of their instructors.

Safety

To help put you at ease, we took into account the safety precautions and measures that these facilities have in place.

Photo and Video Quality

If you’ll be jumping 5,000-feet above ground, you’d want no less than the best documentation. Even at indoor facilities, we considered how well they’re able to capture customers’ experiences.

Rates

Skydiving is a premium activity that comes with a premium price tag. So, we took a look at how reasonable their rates were.

Pros

  • Has been in business for over 20 years
  • All instructors are licensed, certified, and has decades of experience
  • Relatively affordable base rate for tandem skydiving
  • Open daily

Cons

  • Aircrafts used are on the smaller side
  • Relatively expensive photo and video packages

The Phoenix Skydive Center is among a top-rated skydiving facility, for a lot of good reasons.

For starters, they’ve been around for over 20 years and have had zero accidents. This is because they put heavy emphasis on the safety of their facility and aircrafts (albeit small ones).

Their instructors are all licensed and certified by the United States Parachute Association (USPA). They currently hold FAA Class 3 Airmen medical certificates, which means that they’re very much capable of handling themselves in the sky.

To ease your mind even more, each one of them has over 20 years of experience as an instructor and has done over 10,000 jumps throughout their careers.

Suffice it to say, they know their way around the sky and are extensively-trained to make your dive as safe and fun as possible.

From what we’ve heard, the instructors are friendly and are super approachable. We find these to be super helpful in calming one’s nerves.

They have relatively affordable rates that start at just $199 for a solo tandem dive. It’s rare to find an offer that goes below $200 among most skydiving facilities.

However, there are no other inclusions in those rates. If you want HD photo coverage, you’ll have to splurge an additional $99, or avail the HD video and photo package at $149.

So if you do the math, they technically still come out to be on the pricier side of said activity.

Pros

  • Utilizes a state-of-the-art vertical wind tunnel
  • All first-time flyers get a short, free training session
  • Offers higher flight options
  • Open daily

Cons

  • Relatively expensive rates
  • Short flight time

Let’s take it down a notch to something that’s nearly as thrilling, but less nerve-wracking. For first-timers, iFly Indoor Skydiving is a good place to start.

Here, you get the same sensation of flying in a controlled, state-of-the-art vertical wind tunnel. It’s considered to be safe for all ages and equally fun for all experience levels.

Because safety is the primary concern, all first-time flyers are required to undergo a quick training session. They’ll be oriented on what to expect and what to do by certified and highly-trained flight instructors

Throughout the experience, the instructor will also be with you, regardless of whether you’re a beginner or not.

Once you get the hang of it, you can start flying with other people, given that they’re already of the same skill level. We think this is such a fun activity to do with your friends or family!

And if you’re seeking a higher flight, you can purchase one to fly higher and faster. A lot of customers avail the high flight option once their instructor deems them fit and experienced enough.

Their rates are significantly expensive and will set you back over $100 for a 2-minute flight. Photos are priced at $3.95 each, while videos are $7.95.

Pros

  • Offers a scenic drop with views of the Phoenix skyline, Camelback Mountain, and Four Peaks
  • Relatively affordable photo and video packages
  • Offers packages for experienced jumpers
  • Open daily

Cons

  • Facility needs better maintenance
  • Reports that some of their suit rentals are old and dingy

Skydive Phoenix likes to call themselves the most scenic dropzone across the metropolis. And we have to agree!

The reason being – you’ll get a spectacular 360-degree view of the Phoenix skyline, Camelback Mountain, and the Four Peaks. And if you time the jump right around sunset, it’s a truly surreal experience.

The good folks at this facility are highly-trained and certified. Mainly, they just want to make sure that you have a fun, memorable, and safe time.

Their tandem dives cost $219.99. The HD photo and video packages are relatively affordable, starting at just $89.

What’s great about this place is that they offer additional packages for more experienced jumpers. If you haven’t jumped in a while, you can avail of their recurrency jump package to have an instructor guide you.

One thing we’d like them to work on is the cleanliness of the facility itself. A few customers weren’t pleased that the place isn’t well-maintained and is quite dirty in some areas.

We’ve also heard that some of their suit rentals are old and dingy. Not only can this be seen as unhygienic, but it’s also disappointing to some, considering how much they paid for the experience.

If you’re willing to look past those issues, we think they’re a solid choice for a scenic skydiving experience.

Pros

  • Conveniently-located between Phoenix and Tucson
  • Offers both tandem skydiving and indoor skydiving
  • Has discounted rates for certain individuals

Cons

  • Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Some staff members need better customer service training

Another great place for beginners to visit is Adventures in Skydiving. It’s conveniently-located between Phoenix and Tucson, so you can expect some amazing views of both cities on your jump.

What we like about this facility is that they offer both tandem skydiving and indoor skydiving. If you aren’t ready for the real jump yet, you can always opt for the latter.

Either way, you’ll be assisted by certified instructors. We’ve heard that they’re a welcoming and close-knit bunch, which makes customers instantly feel comfortable around them.

Among them is Derrick, who seems to be well-loved by a lot of their visitors. Apparently, he’s able to explain in a clear, concise, and calm manner – but he also has a great sense of humor.

As for their rates, regular tandem skydives will set you back $209. They offer discounted rates for students, military personnel, and first responders.

You can also avail their photo or video packages at $109. If you’d like both photos and videos, prepare to shell out $125.

While most of their instructors are nice and accommodating, we’ve heard a few complaints about other staff members. It seems that some receptionists and phone reps aren’t as patient in answering customer inquiries.

Pros

  • A family-owned and -operated facility
  • Offers relatively affordable rates and often runs sales
  • Affordable photo and video package
  • Has a 100% safety record
  • Has well-maintained state-of-the-art equipment

Cons

  • Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Could work on a better schedule management system

Skydive Buckeye is a family-owned and -operated facility. It’s an ideal place to visit for beginners and experts alike.

What we love about them is how affordable their rates are. They often run website sales and discounts that go as low as $189 for weekday jumps, and $209 for weekend ones.

Their photo and video package costs only $99, which already includes nearly 200 photos and a one fully-edited 3-5 minute video. Not HD-quality, but we think it’s good enough to capture the experience.

As you’d expect, their instructors are all rigorously-trained and well-experienced. In fact, the facility itself is a member of the USPA.

You’ll be pleased to know that they have a 100% safety record. On top of their team of instructors, we also think that their state-of-the-art equipment provides optimum safety.

Everything is well-maintained and regularly-inspected per FAA regulations. Even their gear and suit rentals are always freshly-cleaned and -laundered.

The only thing we’d like them to work on is their schedule management system. It seems that even with confirmed appointments, a few customers had to wait more than half an hour to be accommodated.

Other than that, we think they’re a top-notch facility that’s worth your time and money.
